MY UNDERSTANDING OF SHIHAN KIMURA'S SHUKOKAI

Good little book. As someone who was taught essentially Shihan Kimura’s karate via a student of his after Kimura himself had died it was nice to read the thoughts of another person who trained in his karate while he was alive. Kimura was clearly a very mechanically minded man who strove to perfect his techniques. As well as the author, Kimura’s karate has also enriched my own life a great deal despite never having had the pleasure of meeting him.

I love this. I studied Kumira Shukokai from my first experience in martial arts and this is karate as I know it. This book allows me to re live my early days and has given me back the hunger and drive to practice again. Although very brief this book contains everything that will lead you onto the path of true martial arts and it’s values.
