A CLASSIC, IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD
I've loved this album all my life. My mother had the 10 inch LP, and we basically wore it out, replacing it with the later 12 inch LP. Two of the greatest male voices of the golden age of the 1940's and 1950's who had a chemistry together I have never heard equalled by any other tenor and baritone. The whole album is worth the one track of the duet from Bizet's Pearl Fishers, but all the duets are great. There are also duets with Bjoerling pairing up with Licia Albanese and Zinka Milanov. If you love opera for the beautiful voices and the incredible emotion shining through the singing, this is one of the greatest single albums you can buy. I can't recommend it enough.

Never better, never bettered
Going back to the orginal RCA vinyl edition, I have owned this recording in one form or another for more than fifty years. No one has ever sung the the duets from Forza and Pearl Fishers better than Bjorling and Merrill.

Purchased through Amazon, a perfect condition used CD. Merrill & Bjorling duets and arias according to opera experts is a highlight CD. Both tenors, alone and together are definitely among the best tenors in the last 100 years.

Some wonderful duets. Remember that Bjorling was Pavarotti's favourite tenor.

It may have been recorded over 60 years ago but to my mind it's still the best Pearl Fishers duet ever. Two perfectly matched voices, so powerful yet so soft. Superb.
