Provides constant power for devices like Google nest thermostat
The hardest part to figure out is to determine which leads go to which terminals on the thermostat to provide constant power in place of the C-wire. I used the Y and C terminals. Since this is a generic transformer for multiple devices, you'll need to look up your device online to figure it out.

Two Bad Transformers, Not Going Back for More
I ordered two of these transformers, both were faulty. They looked good, with a good form factor for what I’m doing, and I wasn’t too concerned about quality. After all, what can go wrong with a transformer like this? Especially when not overloaded as in my case from what I knew. (Ring doorbell requires only 30 VA.)I ordered the first for a Ring video doorbell, then before I got it, I ordered a second for a smart wi-fi thermostat. Needed them for smart home upgrades to a home I purchased, where the original doorbell transformer was no longer working, and no C wire from the HVAC unit, etc. When I got the first transformer and wired it to the doorbell device, then plugged it, it didn’t work. Green LED was not on, video doorbell didn’t power on. Digital voltmeter showed 0 VAC out from the transformer. Disconnected the load wires at the transformer, still 0 VAC out. Transformer was completely DOA, fresh out of the box. Packed it back into the box to return.A day later the 2nd transformer arrived. I tried using that on the doorbell. It worked! Or so I thought. Doorbell kept powering off every few minutes. I thought something was wrong with the doorbell or the wiring, because the green LED on the transformer stayed brightly lit. Finally I put a meter directly on the output terminals of the 2nd transformer, and saw that after about 5-10 minutes plugged in, the output voltage would fall from 24 VAC down to 4 VAC. Arrgghh … I eventually got the doorbell working with a 40 year old security system transformer that I scrounged, and it’s been working just fine that way for about a week.Would not advise buying. I need to replace the old crusty transformer that I’m using temporarily, but I won’t buy another one of these. Fool me once, shame on you … fool me twice, shame on me … I won’t go back to get fooled thrice.Later Udate: This is a 20VA output transformer, the Ring Pro 2 video doorbell that I’m using is rated as requiring 30 VA. The second transformer I tried may have been “good”, but overloaded. Although transformer description seems to indicate that it will work for ring and other doorbells, it’s borderline or undersized for some models. Buyer beware. I will try a transformer with 40VA minimum next.

Easy Install Plenty of Power
I purchased this item when an old panel-mounted 16V transformer died - after I installed a Eufy doorbell camera unit. This little transformer outputs enough power for the doorbell camera & existing doorbell to work. Install was easy - moving doorbell wires to the 24V plugin transformer & plugging the unit into a nearby convenience outlet.

It does the job
I wanted to install a Ring video doorbell at my parent's old house. The doorbell button had some odd, potentially dangerous wiring that did not have the correct voltage. It was much easier and faster to use a plug-in transformer rather than hard wire a new junction box and transformer. This one did the job. There are doorbell transformers that come with the wiring attached. However, in my case I used the existing doorbell wiring so I could just attach it to the transformer instead of running new wiring. The Ring video doorbell works great with this transformer.
