The MTN Trainer Evo is an alpine approach shoe for technical hiking, via ferrata and trekking. The versatile and multifunctional Vibram MTN Trainer Evo sole provides safety and stability in difficult terrain. The deep, self-cleaning tread and aggressive lugs provide secure grip on rocky terrain, scree and via ferrata, as well as optimal traction on muddy ground, grass and snow. The special via ferrata zone in the midfoot area with right-angled studs allows maximum power transfer for better grip on metal cramps and ladders in via ferrata. The rugged suede upper has a rubber welt all around and features a GORE-TEX Extended Comfort lining for durable waterproofing and breathability: Wetness can not penetrate, while sweat and moisture can easily escape to the outside. Review: Love the shoes, shame about the laces - Super comfortable as ever. These are the 5th pair of Salewa shoes I've bought and I just wear them everywhere. They're very supportive and the sole is great on any surface. My only issue is that the laces are too red and too long. I wanted to swap them out for black laces but the eyelet holes are so narrow that only the supplied red laces will fit - I just wish they weren't so conspicuously red. The laces are also about 20cm too long but I was able to fix that by cutting that length off one end and then melting the tip so it won't fray. Review: Good fit, good durability, worth the money. - I wear size 10.5 US in shoes and an 11 in boots. This shoe has a roomy toe box, fits my foot comfortably and doesn't slip or rub. The little cleats on the lacing are an excellent touch. The treads pick up mud but shed it easily. Otherwise, it's just a good shoe for energetic outdoor activity. I've been wearing their shoes and boots since 2007 and I'm a true believer in Salewa. They take quality seriously.
