- 47" Extra Heavy Duty Snake Tongs Reptile Grabber Catcher

I purchased this extra long snake stick because we get some large Diamondback Rattlesnakes here in West Texas. I wanted an additional safety edge provided by the longer length of this unit. I had two Rattlers in my back yard just before purchasing this unit but I have not had any since obtaining these tongs, yet. I have practiced using it on rubber snakes and I am convinced that it will work very well on an actual rattlesnake. The jaws on the stick work very smoothly and are also easy to operate. The stainless steel main cylindrical staff is very rigid and durable with extra thickness walls. I am most confident that it will work well on the larger snakes and keep me a safer distance from their heads. As a fringe benefit it came with an extra cable and spring.

I have used the 47 inch (1.2 m) snake tongs/grabber on several 3 to 5 foot (0.9 to 1.5 m) constrictors and on another 4 foot (1.2 m) rattlesnake, but bought this longer version because I wanted to see if the longer reach was beneficial. It certainly is. It was great having the extra few inches between the rattlesnake and myself. 52 inches (1.3 m) is fairly long, and so might be a bit awkward for shorter people or people with shorter arms, but I can't say for certain. My wife, who is 5'6" (1.7 m), didn't want to try using the tongs/grabber. Or depending on the size/weight of the snake, it might require someone to steady it with their other hand, but I'm 6'2" (1.9 m) and it wasn't a giant snake so it worked fine one-handed for me. It is all stainless steel and seems very sturdy and well-built while still being lightweight. The handle has a rubber sleeve for a good grip. The cable and spring seem very strong and durable. It also came with an extra cable, ferrules, and spring. It DOES NOT LOCK. The only thing keeping the snake held is you squeezing the trigger. The description does not say that it locks, but people often ask or just assume that they lock. I would definitely recommend the 52 inch snake tongs/grabber, but the 47 inch version is equally well made and worked great as well.

We live in the desert southwest and after seeing several snakes in our backyard I figured I should get something to deal with them. This snake pole is exactly as described in the description. For me personally, this product's best feature also tends to be my one sticking point with it. I love the length of the pole (in the fact that it keeps you away from the snake). The problem here is not so much with the product but with physics. If you are picking up a bigger snake, because the snake is so far away from you on the end of the pole, its fairly heavy and makes moving the snake (once caught) more difficult. I found that I needed to use a second hand on the pole, not handle, to control it (thus bringing my second hand closer to the snake). In the end however I was able to get the snake in the bucket, just didn't expect the above issue. The product works as described, just be aware of the above. Overall im glad I bought it.

Fast shipping, item seems very sturdy, long enough, good grip and glad it arrived! Exactly what was needed to take care of a couple of rattlers around here in the Arizona desert.

I've been having unwanted black snakes invading my bed loft at my lake house, curling up in the bed like they own the place (inside the covers), slithering down from the loft into the outdoor kitchen when guests are there eating, including the mother of all snakes, an 8-footer, and I have had it with them. I went up into the bed loft last week to get bedding and cushions out of the plastic tubs where I store them for the winter, and sure enough, there was a big black snake behind a tub. It slithered out of reach behind a ceiling joist next to a rafter and curled up there, probably laughing in some snake-like manner. Until I got out the snake tongs. I grabbed that snake so fast, carried it down the ladder, took it outside, grabbed my machete on the way out, and no more snake. I cannot wait until my next snake encounter. I'm going to clean them all out. Maybe when I get the mother of all snakes I'll post a photo. I bought two of these snake grabbers: one for my shop and one for my lake house. I have snake issues being in a wooded area. The snake tongs are just the right tool to have if you want to get rid of snakes. UPDATE: Caught one yesterday (see photo) and one the day before, almost as big. Plus another big one about a week ago, all in my lake house picnic shelter. They've all gone to heaven.

The Snake grabber tool came to our home within a 48 hour window. I was immediately impressed by how sturdy the tool looked. We were at war with a few very voracious cottonmouth water moccasins. Once we noticed our backyard pond and waterfall became a place of residence for a big mama and 3 younger moccasins I knew we were being threatened. My wife, here sister, our beloved Cavalier-Poodle dog, and the little bunny we call Bugs as in Bugs Bunny. I will never forget the afternoon I saw a very odd looking head staring at me; I thought it was a frog but it did not jump out of the water. I did a search of Google and discovered this bad boy could lead a person or pet to a very hellish death. When they bite you and enough venom is injected into its prey they will bleed out. Not to mention the sheer terror anyone would feel once bitten. Even if you can get to a doctor in time, would you be sure what snake bit you. This snake literally jumped toward us and hissed, as if to say this is my home now. I said to myself, hell no, this is not your home its ours and one of us is going to leave even if that means death. We went to war, I threw big rocks at it. Suddenly I knew the big 6 food reptile was injured enough to leave. But then even though we drained the pond and transferred our goldfish, that they were eating, that trouble maker came back, that was it I ordered the Snake Grabber. I went to the hospital to have back surgery but alass when I returned home, my sister in-law shouted at me. I did it, I got that snake grabbing tool and to my surprise I got it, brought is to the cement patio. With on hand on the tool and one hand on our machete I sliced its head off. We all had a sigh of relief. Don't play games if you find yourself in this kind of situation. Go to war! Good solid well made unit. Means I don’t have to get as close to them to keep myself and the snakes safe.

Small bag of cable parts , no instructions , item is average , I expected better for the price.
