Does this fit an elongated toilet seat?

Rhonda,Good question.  It is difficult to say for certain without knowing the measurements of the bowl.  However, this is meant to be adjustable to fit a large variety of bowls.  If you decide to try it and it doesn't fit we will accept it back for a full refund.Best,Jen

How do you measure the bowl to see if it will fit?

There are two toilet owl shapes..oval and round...doesn't matter as the riser fits into the bowl of either and attaches by turning a knob in the front which will fit either one. With only affront knob,the handles are stable only if one sits down squarely on it..if one holds onto one side,it comes off.  If permanence and stability are important,choose a riser with side screw holders or with screws into the toilet bowl,or legs.I use a walker so legs are bothersome. Must use it carefully and then it is great..also it can be removed easily if you have guests...

Do I take my current seat off and attach this one?  Or does my seat sit on top of this one?

Your current seat must be removed. However first check the back of your toilet bowl rim; if the rim is too narrow the Vive will not lock into the rear overhang. That is ehy we returned our Vive. Raised toilet seats are very dependant on your toilet bowl shape and there are so many.

does this fit on a one piece elongated toilet

We placed it on our older model elongated 2-piece toilet and it works. Very stable with its locking mechanism. My husband strongly believes it would work on our new one piece compact elongated seat as well, but we have not tried it. We are presently using a portapotie on this newer one. It’s simply easier to remove when not in use so that our guests and my husband can use something in the House. Hope this helps.
