Perfect sequel
I'm confused by the fact that I didn't pick this up right when it came out, as I loved IMMORTAL BELOVED, but now there's only a few months left before the third third and final installment in the trilogy comes out, so I guess it all worked out.I have to admit my favorite parts of DARKNESS FALLS were the chapters back at River's farm, following Nastasya as she works in the kitchen or at the local drugstore. These might feel a little like treading water if you're reading the books back to back, but I loved being able to reacquaint myself with all the characters and especially Nastasya's voice.Though her time at the farm is not what you would really call pleasant. All the self-improvement she's been doing has begun to bear fruit, and one nasty side effect of learning the difference between right and wrong is that Nastasya sees many of her memories with new eyes. Instead of a daring escape, she sees the people she didn't help. Instead of a fun caper, she sees the people harmed by her theft. She's still struggling to fit in, still doesn't know what to do with her feelings for Reyn, still can't master simple magic...the mood, in the early sections of the book, is melancholy. Maybe even gloomy, though Nastasya is too funny and bubbly to really drag you down.Later on, Incy re-enters the picture and Nastasya gets to try on her old life for size. Fabulous clothes, luxury, late-night parties, fun and frivolous behavior. Tiernan does an amazing job of making the high life sound utterly revolting. Nastasya name-drops Manolo Blahnik or Christian Louboutin, slipping her feet into shoes that sound truly, covetously adorable, and then wishes - and makes me wish - for a pair of old work boots.Like the first book, DARKNESS FALLS breaks many rules of commercial fiction - not much action, lots of flashbacks, plenty of inner monologue. I loved every word of it, and hugely admired Tiernan's skill, because she makes it all fun and gripping.

Hobbitsies Reviews: Awesome follow-up!
EEEEEEEEEP. I am such a huge Cate Tiernan fan girl. And I LOVED Immortal Beloved and I'm so glad that Darkness Falls is just as freaking good. And even though the action-y action bits in Darkness Falls doesn't start to really kick into gear until the end, but it is seriously such a quick and engrossing read. Just like in Immortal Beloved, Nas's story and narrative commentary really sucks you in.As a character, Nas really grew from who she was in Immortal Beloved, and she was trying new things and her attitude was starting to change, and she certainly became more likable, in my opinion. Well, in parts of the book. Which is always good for a main character. And River! There was so much more insight on who River is and why she is the way she is, and I loved that background info. And there's lots of steamy goodness, kay guys? If you like kissing, you'll like this series. Because Reyn the Viking is seriously swoon-worthy. And I don't think I actually call that many fictional males swoon-worthy (or at least not in reviews...) - but Reyn deserves the title. When the action at the end picks it up, it really picks up and I was reading in a frenzy almost because I need to know what happened next and next and did that really happen? There's not a lot more I can say without spoiling Darkness Falls, but if you like the concept of immortals or farms or fun sexual tension, definitely check out this series by Cate Tiernan.

One of my favoite series 3.8 Stars
After reading Immortal Beloved I realized I really really enjoyed the story line and the characters. The struggle for redemption and seeking truth and forgiveness, I knew that book two, Darkness Falls would be just as good.Unfortunately, as I began reading book two I admit I wasn't as excited as I was when reading book one. The story line seemed to move a lot slower and although I understand the meaning for learning about other characters' past, it seemed to stall. But again, I loved book one and knew that there was only a matter of time before Darkness Falls picked up and had me on the edge. As the book came to a close everything seemed to come together and of course all the action and the 'Oh my God' scenes took place. All in all I enjoyed Darkness Falls. I'm excited to see what will happen between Nasty and Reyn since they have both agreed they want one another, and I'm excited to find out who was really behind the demise of Nasty.Still a sucker for happy endings, I can't wait to read book three!!! Good job Cate Tiernan

SO awesome! Definitely recommed!
I absolutely loved this sequel! I felt that it had a nice steady pace throughout the whole book. I enjoyed the self learning that Nastasya goes through and it never left me behind on what events unfolded before her. I feel like I understand her and sympathize with her more than other characters in other novels I've read. It's easy to understand what she's going thru because she tells you what she thinks and feels and why. I'm so glad she realizes to act on her feelings about dark magick, Reyn, and Incy. She finally steps up to the plate and chooses what she wants. You get emotionally attached and feel everything she feels from hurt, joy, and everything else in between. And I loved the whole relationship ordeal between her and Reyn! I can't wait until the final book! I would definitely recommend this series to fellow readers.

LOVE
I absolutely LOVE Cate Tiernan! She has been my favorite writer since 2002 when I first picked up her Sweep series. I re-read her books multiple times a year. Darkness Falls is a great book in another of her book series. I love the storyline of immortalism and the fact that Nas has been immortal since the middle ages is so neat. I love that she's gone through so much and Reyn - swoon - please. I just want more more more. Read this series. You'll love it!

Darkness Falls (Bk 2 of Immortal Beloved)
It seems a long time between the first & second books of this series (trilogy?), but 2nd book continues the story giving much greater depth to how everyone got to where they are, and the factors influencing some of their decisions/actions. Captivating read with same brand of humur found in book 1. Awaiting (waiting, waiting....) the next book with hopeful anticipation.

Senso de humor sarcástico e maravilhoso
Me apaixonei pela personagem principal.

Darkness Falls by Cate Tieman
I loved this book. As with all Cate's books, it was very entertaining. Very nice style and plot layout. I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it all.

book 2 as good as 1 and can't wait for 3
Everything; characters, story line, reasoning, grammar and spelling; all very well done and keeps you reading/thinking. A different view that ties things together nicely.
