It's connecting me to the internet as I write this. I inserted my ethernet cables and plugged it in. No fuss. I've got gigabit internet to all my devices.

I was searching in some local big box stores for something exactly like this. The price was just about doubled.

It's one of the lowest priced 16 port 10/100/1000 switches I have found. It immediately cleaned up a networking mess in my church media and sound room. Longevity? We'll see about that but I don't see why it won't work for several years. Worth it if you just need a simple unmanaged switch.

Could not get the item to work with my setup and there was no instructions or anything. I had to put my old unit back up until I can find a new one that one. I just put it in the corner and I will give it to someone else.

I have been involved in computer IT technology for almost forty years now. I have run IT departments, set up intranets, extranets, and computer networks both professionally and at home. I have used most of the big manufacturers products, such as Netgear, Cisco, etc. This 16-port Gigabit ethernet switch is at least as good as those much higher priced big name brands. This switch is a nice solid and well constructed metal case. Earth RJ-45 jack is clean, solid connecting, and well manufactured. The display lights on the side of the switch convey pretty much all you need to know from a switch such as the Link, Act, & Speed. There is a switch also on the side where you can control settings for Normal, Flow Control, VLAN, and Extend. This switch also has 19 Inch rack mount brackets that are included if you choose to rack mount your switch. In using this switch, I have experienced no issues at all with any of the devices connected. All connectivity is clean and pure for both receive and transmit at full speed. I really like how they laid out the RJ-45 receptacles double height along the side thus reducing the overall footprint of the switch. In using the switch I don’t even feel any heat coming from it so it’s staying nice and cool even when fully utilized with all connections. I’m very happy with this product and if you’re looking for a very good quality 1GB Ethernet switch I do recommend it. Definitely a very good value considering something similar from a major brand will cost you 2-3x the price of this one.

Bought this and worked well for about 4 months and is already broke. Product is not good recommend against buying it.

Network engineer here, this is a simple design unmanaged switch that provide limited vlan function. If you are new to purchasing a switch then you would want to get unmanaged switch due to its simplicity of plug and play capability but the problem is that in general unmanaged switch there is no vlan capability for network segmentation. (For security reason, you want to segment your network so if one port or section is compromise, it doesn't impact on other network/port) This switch combine both the simplicity of connection and 2 ports (15 and 16) to be accessible, which you can do a main desktop that has strong security control around to rdp to devices on the network and router/firewall on the other shared port to achieve great home secure environment. It also comes with rack mount if you want but I don't need it. The switch auto detect the port on the network speed, and it's pretty quiet. Overall, this is a great network switch and I totally recommend, it we'll build metal case and thoughtful elegant design.
