Very useful product and a must have if you want to measure rooms etc by yourself. A lot better than tape measure.

I am both a design engineer and a contractor for designing and building houses. A few years ago, I tried a laser based measure device, it had too large an error, wasted money buying it. Now, I thought the technologies might improved and tried again to buy one. 1. The first one was a big size, heavy, but the measured values are different each time push the measure button even for the same distance, had to returned that unit. 2. Then tried another one, each time turn on the device, it always set the unit to meter. I use ft+in most of the time, not the meter. I would have to presss and hold the unit button for 2 long hold times to switch to the right unit, not convenient, returned that one. 3. Tried another one, it worked well, but did not have ft+in unit, but other 3 units: ft, in and meter, although the website clearly shows it had the ft+in unit, had to return it. 4. The display type was that the letter is bright, the back ground is dark. It works well indoor, but cannot read the numbers outdoor in day time, at which I need to do the measurement most of the time. Had to return it. 5. Another unit, everything is perfect, but the measurement result is about 1/4 inch off, pity. This unit, DTAPE 100, is perfect: 1. Super accurate (see the photo), almost no error at around 6 ft (2.122 meters), the error is <0.5mm, that's <0.5mm/2000mm = 1/4000 = 0.025%. In English unit, <0.5/16 in, much more than enough for my work. 2. High resolution result. In inch: it reads 1/16 in; In feet, it reads 3 digits after the decimal point; In meater, it reads 3 digits after the point, that's mm; in ft+in, it also reads 1/16 in. The best one on the market. 3. Whatever unit I set it, turn it off, turn it back on, the remains the same unit; 4. The display can be read easily both indoor and outdoor even under the strong sun light; 5. Small size and light weight; 6. Very good manual, well written; 7. Measures long distance, even at day time, can reach up to 300 ft - not easy to see the laser dot in bright day time - this is a common problem among all the laser measurement devices. 8. Wish it had: angle display, leveling bubbles, beam reflection strength display, better quality carrying bag.... but all these are not important nor necessary for using it as a measurement device. Highly recommend this one, but not all the other models.

Works great, will be interesting when I can use it to measure longer distances. Measured up to 72 ft and was quite accurate

For the price acceptable quality.
