The width is about 2 3/4", no problem fitting in a vehicle cup holder.

how much does this weigh? I would like to buy it for my son to use while at school and he is loathe to add more weight to an already loaded backpack.

The bottle weighs 1 1/4 lb empty so they are heavy. And, the top will open easily if the button is accidentally pushed against causing a water spill. Perhaps a quality stainless steel bottle would be a better choice for your son. I do like this bottle, though.

Is the Bold Blue similar to Navy?

I would say it’s closer to a denim blue.

How wide is the opening? Can you easily fit ice cubes in the bottle?

I don't have the bottle any more, so I can't measure for you. I think you could perhaps slip in an ice cube if it was a skinny one from an icemaker, but certainly not a chunky cube.I don't have it any more because the plastic around the hinge cracked, the pin cap was lost, the pin started slipping out of the casing - you get the idea. Loved it conceptually but not durable.
