This is my now go to wound care treatment. It heals faster and better than anything else I've used before. I started using it on a dog (when the er vet recommended it) that was injured by another dog and it worked great except the dog kept licking it back off. I decided I wanted to try it when I had a pilonidal cyst that refused to heal properly after lancing. After getting permission from the doc I started using it and finally the cyst started healing. I've used it on wounds from blackberry bushes, and my rose bushes. I had a couple of nasty cuts from the rose bushes and tested to see how fast it would heal vs generic neosporin type stuff. The cuts treated with the honey healed a week faster and with less of a scar than the regular treatment. I now keep this on hand at all times.

Medical-grade Manuka honey works through multiple physical and chemical mechanisms rather than a single active chemical agent. Its high methylglyoxal (MGO) concentration, low pH, and high sugar content draw moisture out of bacterial cells to break down cell walls and disrupt bacterial biofilms. Because it attacks bacteria in multiple ways at once, bacteria are unable to mutate or adapt against it. This gives Manuka honey a major advantage over traditional topical antibiotics—such as bacitracin or mupirocin—and even silver dressings, which can face emerging resistance. It effectively kills hard-to-treat, multi-drug resistant strains like MRSA and Pseudomonas while keeping the wound bed healthy.

After looking through all the choices for honey meant for a medical purpose, this product fit the bill. My doctor recommended a different brand, but it wasn't available anywhere. Because of where it was produced and its description, I felt confident in using it. The packaging is poor because it is apparently meant for a one time use. The top twists off so that you can use just a small amount. But then the cap does not seal the tube. That was fine until I needed to travel with it. The product itself is working; it is easy to dispense a small amount; it deserves all five stars. But a twist off top that can't be resealed... really?

First off: the cap DOES seal!!! Simply twist it off to dispense the product. To close the tube, turn the cap over, insert the tiny plug in the cap into the tube opening and press gently until it "snaps" in. It's very easy to do. I had two 8mm punch biopsies on lower shin, right next to each other. Both wounds popped open when the sutures were removed a week later. Per my surgeon's suggestion, medical honey was recommended for the open wounds care. After rinsing wounds with sterile saline & patting dry, I applied the honey to to both and covered with a non-stick pad. Placed a Tegaderm dressing over that to secure. Repeated daily and the wounds are healing nicely, no pain and draining as they should. I also have used this product on my elderly Mom after a 1.5" melanoma excision (which could not be sutured) and it healed beautifully and with no issues. Her surgeon was impressed!

Substitute item was sent it works just as good. Recommend by wound specialist. Must order another one for travel kit.

REVISED to 5 stars from original rating of 3 stars because this stuff healed a stubborn skin crack in 2 days, when a famous brand "skin crack healer" failed in numerous applications over more than 2 weeks. So I get skin cracks in the winter. The one I'm writing about was in the fingertip of the middle finger. It stung on contact with water of course. It started getting thicker as if fibroblasts were proliferating, but the surface remained open, red, and hypersensitive. So I dug this out, applied a very thin line on top of the crack, and put a band aid over it. I changed the band aid 3 times per day for 2 days. Then it looked healed and when I applied alcohol to the surface there was no sting. So, regardless of the deficiency below it fully deserves 5 stars and my deep gratitude. Still, there are two separate aspects of quality to medical items: documents and manufacture. This "medical grade" item is not adequate for "documents" because it contains no papers at all. Instructions on use, cautions, warnings, and risks are needed. Oddly it bears the "CE" mark of quality for documentation, but in the absence of instructions I don't see how it deserves this. It also bears the warnings/cautions symbol of an explanation mark inside a triangle, but there is no mention of warnings or cautions. Regarding the manufacture itself I do not see any fault, but I am not a laboratory. It smells something like honey. ADDED 18 months after purchase: This medical grade honey lost all potency after about one year. Over the past 6 months it has been ineffective. Yet, its expiration date is still six months from today ! Be warned !!

I am a very skeptical person but decided to try this as nothing else was working for me. I also never leave reviews unless I am impressed. This is a 24hr before and after photo of a prolonged head injury that probably needed stitches but didn't. My doctor said be patient and keep it covered, that was 2 months ago. 24hrs and what an improvement. If you want results definitely try this product.

Like all honey products, overtime it crystallizes. Using the medical honey in a crystallized state is unpleasant to apply and makes it hard to come out of the tube. I sealed the lid after opening and put the tube in a glass of hot water (not boiling but very hot), with the lid just above the waterline so it didn’t get into the tube. I let it sit for about ten minutes then refilled with hot water again, and the honey was super smooth after! No more crystals. :) Happy healing!
