CATS & SMALL DOGS ONLY
I'm giving a 4 star rating because even though I returned the stairs (because my elderly cat just refused to use them) I think they are really nice and would be very useful for people with CATS or SMALL DOGS ONLYMy emphasis is because while these stairs are very nicely crafted, the materials are VERY lightweight and are really only appropriate for small pets of approximately 8lbs to maybe 12-13lbs******The wood used for the steps is literally just balsa wood covered in felt and the frame is sturdier but not by a lot so again, these stairs are suitable only for lightweight and small pets. The design is still pretty clever because they can be collapsed and stored under beds or behind doors and I like the ramp style as well.If my senior cat would use these stairs I would keep them due to the design and price but he just keeps going around the stairs and making more difficult climbs to avoid them.

I liked the fact the stairs fold down to a ramp ...
Product arrived very early. I liked the fact the stairs fold down to a ramp but my dog didn't get any traction when it was in a ramp position so I bought a few 1" x 7" pieces of wood to nail into the ramp position. Don't try to step on it your self, it will break. One of the fold up stairs came loose but it is a real easy fix. Looks like real furniture with some persistent training I think my 18 lb. doggy will use it. I bought it to save his joints because he flies on and off a high bed. Wish it came about 8 inches higher but I am ok with the purchase.

Hinge is defective; assembled incorrectly
The stairs are a great height, but the hinge on one side is defective, and was not put on correctly by the manufacturer. It did not permit me to straighten it out to support the stairs. When I screwed it off, the screw got stripped very easily, and now I have to purchase a new screw, and a new hinge. Putting the hinge back on allows me to support the stairs, but now I can't collapse the stairs. I have no idea where to get a hinge.I can probably find another screw. The reason I bought this item was so that I could bring it with me on trips so my dog could use it not just at my home, but when we vacation. Now, I will probably use a box with a towel on it. It's not pretty, but it's very effective and it helps my dog get up on the couch...or the bed.

Great buy
A great buy! These are tall enough for my bed when others were way too short. The felt fabric gives the steps antis lip protection. Materials look a bit cheap but it's sturdy and effective. I have a small 6 lb dog and he has no problem getting up and down the bed now. He was a bit nervous at first during the night because the steps were black and lights out but after a few days he figured it out no problem. I would give it five stars if it were just a bit more attractive.

Don't buy these
I suggest you not get these...unless you have a really tiny lightweight dog or a cat. Maybe a longer "legged" dog, but only if he/she is very small. (10 lbs or less) I have a 20lb Westy. For the height of the stairs, the width is too short. My westy would have trouble both going up and down due to that, and since she has bad knees it was even more of a struggle. Also...since it collapses, and there's no safety/locking on the stairs...sometimes a stair would collapse when she's trying to maneuver them and she'd fall. :( The piece of wood hinged under each stair....has the tiniest hinges you can imagine with tiny little picture frame nails. Maybe something you'd use in a bird house that is for decoration only...certainly not on stairs for a dog. I fixed those multiple times...they all fell off. Had to keep cobbling it together until I got new stairs....only used this for maybe 3 months. I threw it away. If you're planning to use it as a ramp, forget that...it's WAY to steep. Only maybe a young very small dog with long legs could use it for a ramp....and then what's the point.

Great stairs for my corgi
Great stairs for my corgi. They look really pretty and the style goes with almost any decor. They are sturdy enough for my 30 pound corgi. He is going to be getting older soon and I want him to have the comfort of not having to leap from the bed every morning. He isn't using it yet but I know he will in time. I have accidentally kicked it a couple times because I am not used to where it is and I can say that it does not hurt your foot! It is super easy to set up and to fold away. I think this is the best possible one out there. It won't hold my weight but I am not looking for it to. It is light, attractive and functional.

SLIPPERY!!
not sure this will work out for my tiny chihuahua. it is very steep and very slick. the material lining the staris / ramp is too slippery to allow for proper traction. I am going to try affixing a different material - perhaps carpeting - to aid in this function. It looks nice and was easy to set up, I just hope I can make it work..

This is very sturdy and stable
This is very sturdy and stable. Unfortunately the surface of the steps is way too slippery for my tox fox terrier to use. She fell once and I will not put it by the bed until I have attached some carpeting to the step surfaces. The ramp is way too steep for her. I don't think it will work for her even after I put the carpet on.
