Perfect for my fan
It was easy to install and was appropriate for my ceiling fan installation. My electrician said they were perfect. They are sturdy and they are able to support the weight of the fan perfectly. They are as described and I can highly recommend this product

Remodel
This product worked great for my project. I was adding ceiling lights and fan to a 2 story house on the first floor living room. Got wire to fished up into a 4” hole in the ceiling and these boxes are easily installed. A plus, was the little magnet that held the bracket in place while you start the screws that holds the box. 👍

This works as advertised for 24in centered joists (has weight limits)
I used this product to repair some out of code fixtures not properly installed by NEC standards. A couple of things should be noted more clearly. 1) to work on 24inch joists the fixture/fan has to be less than either 50 or 75lbs (double check documentation). The review complaining about sag likely had an overweight fan. I installed a simple fixture in my garage (picture in my review) and it aint going no where, no sag. 2) The metal harness part that hangs over the bar that spans between joists has screws that hang down that you attach the included junction box to. For some reason the screws are extremely long and the nut used to secure the junction box to the metal bar leaves too much space which ends up causing the junction box to be loose (the included nylon lock nut only turns like 3-5 times). Maybe others have more depth to work with, I didn't. I solved this loose junction problem with a #10 split washer + #10 nut for 2$ from a local hardware store. I simply hand tightened the washer/nut to the harness and this made the junction box nice and secure. i then placed nylon lock nuts on the end even though that seems kinda pointless. 3) The instructions don't mention that the triangle part on both ends is supposed to be positioned the same on each side so that your installed product is level. I didn't notice this till the end but it didn't affect my fixture install. I think this would matter more for a fan. 4) The instructions indicate to use the junction box as the outline to make the hole, if you don't have a lot of clearance to work with like i did you probably will need to cut the hole a bit bigger to allow the metal bar to be inserted (which shouldnt a big deal fixture should hide it in most cases). 5)make sure you use the black plastic piece on the knockout metal hole you use to feed the power so the metal junction box doesn't cut/damagr the electrical wiring. This was not mentioned in the instructions. 6) when cutting the dry wall be careful with your cutting tool to not cut your electrical wire (surprised it didn't mention this), yes ,common sense, but careful cut little piece so you can see where the electrical wiring goes so you can avoid damaging the electrical run. Hope this helps you, the product is great, especially for my house where the previous owner did everything wrong lol! Good luck!

Great device
We had 2 7" cans we were replacing with triple pendant fixtures. None of the screw in adapters I found would work for 7" cans. These work great, but if you have a newer construction home with pre-fab joists (may only be used for the first story ceiling - not sure,) the 2x4s you'll be putting this in-between will be on their side, so only the lower half of the cleat plate will actually touch the joists. I might have had second thoughts if I were mounting a ceiling fan, but it's more than enough support for 1-3 pendant lights. After you get the can out, it's really easy to install. The spacer/feet on the ends keep the mount at just the right height, so you don't have to mess with that at all. That they include a magnet to keep the box in place is also pretty awesome.

These Work!
These work well for their intended purpose. Makes an "old work" overhead job much easier to locate the box where you want it. Great quality.

Works as advertised
This brace was easy to install. We removed boxed canned lighting from a bedroom and replaced it with a ceiling fan. After removing the can, we needed to install a brace and add a ceiling medallion. The brace expanded easily and is designed to fit the box flush to the ceiling which enabled us to install the ceiling fan flush to the medallion. I have since installed a chandelier using the Westinghouse brace spanned across joists. It mounted with ease and feels very secure. The brace is sturdy and can hold much more weight than is required by the ceiling fan.
