Un magnifique livre que tout fan se doit d'ajouter a sa collection ! Magnifique couverture, qualité exceptionnelle, enfin un livre a la hauteur du contenu.

perfect edition, elegantly designed. Keep in mind that this is a collection of the unfinished manuscripts of Tolkien’s stories so it’s not really a novel, don’t expect a continuous narrative. You won’t understand the half of it unless you’ve read The Silmarillion and LOTR.

Eu comprei a edição da Harper Collins (capa amarela, à esquerda) e levei-a à casa de uma amiga para comparar. Ela tem a edição ilustrada, publicada pela Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (capa azul, à direita). Se você clicar com o botão direito do mouse e salvar a segunda foto numa nova aba do navegador, poderá ver que a diagramação da edição da Harper (à esquerda) é mais compacta, ou seja, apresenta mais texto numa única página. O livro é mais fino; o papel é mais transparente, e também mais amarelado. Estive com as duas edições nas mãos e posso dizer que as duas são excelentes. No entanto, como eu já não enxergo tão bem, acho que vou preferir comprar a outra edição, que vai me proporcionar uma leitura mais confortável.

I just wanted some interesting extra background to the "story so far" and this is pretty good. What an amazing man! Creating another another world is one thing (other authors do it) but to create a world complete with it's own history. I mean, genius. Of course, there are inconsistencies. Even real world history has inconsistencies, depending on who is doing the telling. This just adds more detail to that "history". Genius and fascinating read to boot. This is not a novel though. Best to read the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillion first, other wise you won't really get the benefit.
