What does the memory function do? we listen to mp3 audiobook cds and 1 track can be 3 hours long, so it needs to restart where we stopped.

I I don't really know as I use audiobooks from the library and these only last about an hour each disc. If I fall asleep I go back to the beginning of the disc and skip through till I find the track I was on. Sorry I can't be more help.

Does this definitely come with an aux cable that allows you to connect the CD player to the car?

Yes. But I use gold plated Jack's. Already had them. Jack provided is good.

How is the unit re-charged?

By a USB connector that comes with the player,either off the mains with an adapter plug or by plugging it into a computers USB port. Charged,it lasts 14 hours.

Daft question but does anyone know why I can’t hear the music cd I’m playing

You won't hear the music if you haven't got the headphones in it or if you haven't turned up the volume on the cd player. If the disk has been put in the wrong way as well. If none of that doesn't work then I'm not sure why you can't hear the music.
