Depends on what you mean by noticeable. They definitely lift the heel up about an inch. You'll notice it as soon as you put them on and they take a little getting used to. At first they may feel a bit wobbly but these grip the foot pretty good and after a while they're easy enough to walk in. You definitely feel taller - perhaps taller than one inch - some of it is a bit mental I think. Will your friends notice? Maybe - maybe not. They are good quality shoes - I have two different pair from them and I like them both.
