Peel back the rubber diffuser and solder directly to contacts.

Q: Will a 12 volt DC transformer with 300 ma output work okay or do I need more current output?

My 4mm red is rated at 5W per meter.

Q: Does the backside light up if you remove the back tape?

Mmm...no, not really. If you want light on both sides, you can carefully bend a strip at a cut point and stick the bent strip together, back to back. Just be careful and don't put a tight crease in the strip; allow for a radiused bend so as not to weaken the strip at the flex point.

Q: Can you dim this strip?

Yep, as long as you've got a variable power supply.
