They do need to be hung with tape or 3M hooks; they do not come with any sticky spot to hang it.

They are not difficult to hang. They do get tangled. We hung the gold and blue for my daughter's college graduation party; they looked great fluttering in the wind but I was not able to get them untangled to reuse. They were definitely worth the cost though.
