Does this meet VW 508 standards?

Castrol always recommends following the guidelines of the original engine manufacturer for the recommended grade and API specific to your application. This information can be found in the vehicle's owner's manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly. Before using any lubricant, ensure that the product specifications meet or exceed the lubricant specifications required by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for that specific use.

Castrol EDGE High Mileage 0W-20 does not meet VW 508.00. It would not be recommended for this application.

Castrol EDGE Euro 0W-20 LL-IV meets the VW 508.00 specification and would be recommended for use in this application.

can this be used in a diesel engine?

Castrol GTX High Mileage 0W-20 is not recommended for use in diesel engines. It is only recommended for gas engines.

This includes using recommended SAE oil viscosity and ILSAC or API performance standard(s). This information can always be found in the owner’s manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly.

When deciding on a formulation, you need to take into consideration factors such as, what type of conditions do you drive in?  What kind of protection are you looking for?  What is the manufacturer recommending?

Castrol EDGE High Mileage 0W-20 can be used in any vehicle, including Toyota, where the engine manufacturer requires or recommends the use of a 0W-20 engine oil that is certified by the American Petroleum Institute.
