This is a beautiful and sturdy chair/stool- I will use it for a photography prop outside. I was impressed by the quality of the wood. Very sturdy in both its forms. The directions are written in Chinese, but I was able to put it together in under 30 minutes (and I am horrible at putting things together). Don't tighten the screws completely until the chair is finished, I put two pieces on backwards but I was able to figure it out.

This is very useful and is exactly what was needed in our library. Our only complaint was the poor directions for assembly.

I’m overall very happy with my library chair/step stool. It’s sturdy enough, and the wood finish is lovely. My only warning if you’re thinking of buying this is that the directions are terrible. In that the directions are only illustrations that are small and difficult to see detail on. It took me twice as long to assemble it because i had to remove and reposition pieces multiple times, and i had a hardware piece leftover that i have no idea where it goes or how to attach it, but the unit seems to work just fine without it so I don’t know.Overall - looks great, works great, difficult to put together for no good reason.

I had my teens assemble this for me to give them a puzzle to figure out, and they got it! Took about an hour. I helped them at the last screw because it wouldn’t line up and we just used an impact to make a new hole. No biggie. And we use it daily for our library. It’s a beautiful little chair that sits in the corner and when we need to reach the books up top we just flip it over and climb up. Holds a good amount of weight and easy enough for my 8 year old to use too.

So disappointed! I ordered this on February 1, 2025, and love the concept, but today on April 6, 2025, an 80-pound child was using the stepladder, and a portion of the foot broke off under her weight! Luckily, she did not get hurt when she fell! Unfortunately, the chair cannot be glued to support weight any longer as a stepladder, and I am out $101.65 and the time it took me to put it together since the return window has closed.

The chair seems ok. Not as sturdy as the picture looks. The directions were terrible.

Unless you read Chinese kanji, really.Guided by reviews, we gave this a try and weren't disappointed. It's a great product, if you have good enough flat pack assembly skills to figure it out. Because you will need to if you don't read kanji fluently.It can hold my way-too-big 250+ pounds and not creak. The ladder rungs feel stable, and I can reach the top shelves in the kitchen, finally. Bonus for somewhere to sit when waiting for the pot to boil.A couple extra screws were included, making it a good deal for what you're getting, IMO.Remember, this is a chair for Chinese folks, for Chinese folks. If you're much taller than 5ft 5 in, you'll be squatting sitting on it. Of course, you wouldn't need a step stool as much as shorty me, anyway.
