Telemecanique Sensors FSG2J24CP 40-60 PSI Pumptrol Water Pressure Switch, Grey Cover

I live in a solar powered off-grid cabin that I'm building out. My water pump runs from my 24Volt DC battery bank. Unfortunately, the pressure switch built into the pump head failed in less than a year. Reading reviews, it seems that is a common problem with the pump. I made the decision to purchase this Square D by Schneider Electric FSG2J24CP 40-60 PSI Pumptrol Water Pressure Switch as a more reliable solution at the recommendation of an electrician friend of mine. I had to plumb a tap from the output of the pump, to which I added the Square D pressure switch and a pressure gauge. I must say that the pump now starts and stops noticeably more cleanly so it had became clear that the old pressure switch was gradually failing. The contacts in this Square D pressure switch are rated 20 Amps. My pump motor draws a little over eight amps. I expect the new pressure switch will last for many years (as my electrician friend says it will). Before you notice that my installation is not NEC compliant without conduit running from the pressure switch into what will be the future wall, this is an emergency wiring to have water in the cabin. The conduit is on order and will arrive in a few days :-) Good catch!

Old switch had worn and arcing contacts and was also a 30-50 PSI switch. I wanted a bit more pressure and bought this at an excellent price (30% less than a local store) and it was very easy to switch out with the old switch. I installed new pressure gauge at the same time since the old one never hit zero, and the new switch was perfectly calibrated from the factory. Note to those who change the pressure rating of your switch: while you have your system drained (necessary to swap out the switch) be sure to check the pre-charge in your pressure tank. A higher cutoff pressure means you need to raise your tank pre-charge. I found my tank was not properly pre-charged by the person who installed the system, so I fixed a problem I did not know I had while ensuring correct setting for the new higher cutoff switch. The correct pre-charge pressure is needed to get optimal performance from your pump and avoid frequent cycling. That saves money on electricity and wear on the pump and pressure switch. It is easy to find the correct pre-charge pressure for whatever switch you have installed.

This pressure switch installed well and checking pressure settings , it was truly 60 psi off and 40 psi on. Factory preset was right on the money. Good quality made in Mexico. Would buy again. This switch replaced a new Merrill unit (Chinese) which I had just purchased and was junk - could not adjust and returned to vendor.

This switch was set up exactly like the one from years ago that I needed to replace. So that was easy. However, it was set to 50-70 from the factory, so it took many cycles to get the cut-in and cut-out adjusted properly. Also, if you're mounting the switch on a stem, replace that too. Mine was almost completely blocked with corrosion.

Replaced the 36 year old Square D with this identical item. Different manufacturer but same quality.

There are so many cheaper versions out there and just like most of us, I'm always looking for a deal. I got the cheaper ones and they are junk! This one and Named Brand is really the only one you are gonna want. Besides it's what the pros use for a much better price!

I bought this to replace an old one that came with the old farm house. The old one lasted for about 25+ years. The build of this one is not exactly the same but it was perfect replacement. I had to replace the old one because of rust. This one I have used electrical grease to grease it. Few months later I have checked and so far so good, no rust. Hopefully, it would last as the old one.

Don't save $5 like I did ordering an offshore clone, get the brand name one. Works like it should, pressure rise right on the mark and fittings built like I won't have to worry about a leak for no reason.
