The blade of this vegetable cleaver is made of German 1.4116 Stainless Steel,which has high hardness. So it will not cracked or lose it edge easyily. By the way,this kind of material is toughness, anti-rust and wear-resistant.

Can this knife be cleaned in the dishwasher?

I have always hand washed any knife. I would not trust the dishwasher not to jar the knife and possibly nick the edge. But that is the way I was raised. No sharp blades ever went in to the dishwasher.

Is this knife blade ground so that left handed people can use it effectively?

I am left handed and I use this knife for my “hard and difficult” chops. I’ve never felt out of control with this knife. It has kept its sharpness as well. I cut apart chicken wing bones with it
