Perfect pizza screen for homemade pizzas โ even cooking, great crust, and easy to use
TLDR: If you want even cooking, great crust, and a screen thatโs durable and easy to use, this is a no-brainer. Just measure your oven, pick the right size, and youโll be happy. I bought this 12 inch pizza screen about a year ago when I started making homemade bread and pizza dough, and it has been fantastic. Iโve used pizza screens back in my restaurant days, and this one works just as well. Itโs perfect for cooking directly on the oven rack without needing a cookie sheet, and itโs easy to slide a pizza peel underneath to remove the pizza when itโs done. The mesh design lets air circulate so pizzas cook evenly and the crust comes out beautifully. As long as you grease the bottom lightly, pizzas donโt stick. Iโve used it for multiple homemade pizzas, and itโs been flawless every time. Size: There are a lot of size options available, so make sure you check your oven before buying. I went with 12 inches, which is perfect for a medium pizza. Some reviews complain the screen is too big or too small, but thatโs really on the buyer. Measure your oven and pick the size that works. Sturdiness: People also comment on sturdiness. Let me tell you, this thing is solid. A pizza might weigh a pound or two, and the screen handles it without any problem. Itโs mesh, so itโs not solid like a cookie sheet, but thatโs how pizza screens work. This is for cooking pizza, not a 5 pound pot roast or pork loin. It performs perfectly. Ease of cleaning: Cleaning is simple if you know how. I soak mine in hot soapy water and scrub with a bristle brush, then let it air dry. Donโt worry if it discolors a bit over time... thatโs normal for pizza screens. They never look perfectly shiny forever, but that doesnโt affect performance. Remember, you must grease these before placing your dough on them. Value: I paid around $5.16 last year, and even now itโs only a little more. Thatโs an amazing deal for something that lets you cook professional-style homemade pizzas at home.

Love it.
Best invention ever. Help keep the heat even when cooking your pizza. Using a plastic brush for cleaning keeps it looking great.

Overall good Pizza pan
For use of application it is good for cooking pizza or something where you are looking for a vented surface. The issue of a doughy uncooked underside is no longer an issue. Great value for its offering at time of purchase. The secondary down side is cleaning for continued uses. Where the problem exist is in the need for pretreatment requiring oiling of the pan for easier cleaning. The minor issue is sturdiness as after heat is applied it has a high tendency to flex. Overall, I would say the value outweighs the clean up as long as multiple are purchased. Although it did flex after the first use it is rather easily beat or rolled with a rolling pin back into very good condition.

Pizza Scream Screen - Must Have In Your Kitchen Repertoire
If youโre wanting NY-style pizza crust without a $120 carbon pizza steel, this is the tool you need. This screen must be seasoned which I coated with canola oil and baked 30 minutes x 3 times. Never sticks and you can never wash it. Bake it to clean it. Cools down fast and you can get the next pizza in the oven.

Prime the pizza screen at 450 degrees F for 30 mins prior to first use.
It's crucial to "prime" this baking screen before use. To do so, set your overn to 450 degrees. Place the screen in the oven for 30 minutes, then turn the oven off. Take the screen out after 30 more minutes. Why? Priming the aluminum like this kills all lingering bacteria and chemicals that are wedged tightly between the aluminum corners and under the rim of the lip. It also kills off the odd flavor you will get the first time you bake a pizza or anything else directly on the screen. I baked my first pizza on it and it tasted horrible. While well-cooked, there was a strange metallic, acidic aftertaste burnt into the crust. Do not use Canola Oil to lubricate this screen. Canola Oil interacts with Aluminum in negative ways, emitting a flavor and smell that will leave you retching. In general, it does a fantastic job, though. When paired with a Pizza Stone, it bakes any frozen pizza (or thawed/freshly made pizza) perfectly.

SEASON these screens before using
I bought 3x of these pans as I regularly do pizza parties and the oven I have has a very small opening to slide pizzas in and out, resulting in major issues if the pizza is heavily topped. I got it on sale and now see why, ha. I saw online someone using parchment paper so that was my immediate fix, but toxic, and not ideal long term After doing a bunch of research I decided a pizza screen would be my best bet. I purchased these because they were affordable and had very fast shipping. They came next day, looked good quality. I seasoned the screens 2 ways, first being in the pizza oven which took a very long time. But worked! Attached is my video of the test pizza before I proceeded with the other screens The other 2 I seasoned in the oven, resulting in my smoke detectors going off but was more efficient and easier I scrubbed and dried the screens thoroughly. I used a brush to LIGHTLY oil before each round of seasoning, did 3 rounds of 500 degrees for 40 minutes, and let cool completely between rounds NO sticky residue left after the final seasoning, and I used a very light brushing of oil and dusting of screen with semolina before my first test pizza which was an 80% hydration dough (I wanted to be SURE these worked before my next party, typically I use a 70% dough) Worked great, will never worry about ruining a pizza again. DONT purchase, imo, unless youโre willing to do the above.

Great crispy crust
Make pizza on a pizza stone with it every week , gives me the crispy crust of a pizza cooked on a stone without the mess of a pizza sticking to the stone . No more swearing ( while cooking pizza )
