Great running shoe
I just oredered my third pair of these. The first pair was purchased after trying some Salomons on, so I knew what size to get. They wear out at about the same rate as any other shoe I've worn on the trails... I wouldn't recommend them for pavement or urban surfaces; I am fairly certain that is not what they are designed for so they will probably wear out faster. After 4-6 months of 20-50 miles a week on the trails they will need to be replaced (toe pops through the side and the soles have holes) but I have found replacement to be common at this timeframe with any shoe I have worn. When they wear out for running they turn into my 'wear around' shoes because they are still comfortable and fast to slip into.Bottom line: I tell everyone to try them out (though I recognize that they won't fit every foot well, trying them on in a store first will help with sizing issues).

If you are going OCR, get them!
Bout this for my Spartan Beast on 5/1/2016. 16.1 miles and 8 hours of grueling mountain climbing, running, walking through mud/water. All I can say is, this pair of shoes WORTH EVERY PENNY.First of all, they are super comfortable. I put them on two days before the race, walked around, took kids to the park. BEST FEEL of all my sneakers/running shoes. I run 60-80 miles a month on average, so running shoes are not strangers to me. I've never tried any shoes that came close to the comfort level of speedcross 3. This was to test it out if I can trust them on a full-day running event. Cannot afford blisters when I get into Beast. Our day of event was pitiful at best. 45F and raining. It means we were gonna deal a lot with water, mud, and slippery hills through the entire course. Sure enough, our shoes got wet 2 miles in, and went through water/mud several times. Sure they will get heavy, but they never felt loose or uncomfortable because of deformation. They do not drain as fast because of thick cushion design, but that does not really bother us. I've seen some reviews elsewhere saying its insoles came loose and curled up. That worried me a little when I was researching shoes. You can imagine how painful that would be if you are running in the course when it happened. Did not happen. There are three members in my team wearing Speedcross 3, not a single one had issue. And we are the only three member never fell because shoes slipped.Shoes all dirty and muddy. Came home, rinse it off. Like new. Pictures are all after the race. And the insoles were perfectly as they were before the race.If you are going to do any OCR like spartan or tough mudder, this is your shoe. If you are going to hike in the woods/mountains, this is your shoe. And they look awesome!

light, natural runner.
For full disclosure, these are my first Salomon's. I've been running in various Asics gels for a number of years. I'm a 190 lbs guy who logs 4 - 5 miles a day. Asics trail runners have been good to me but I've been wanting to try something different. Enter the Salomon Speedcross 3's. A number of articles I've read recently have all been recommending trail style running shoes for gents who way 180+ plus pounds. The Speedcross series is highly touted.Fit: I have a narrow foot and these shoes fit like a glove. The quick pull lacing system works great and ensures a snug and even fit. They are "different". Flexible little nubs on the soles felt a little weird inside on the hardwood floor but once I walked outside, they felt completely natural. Nice flex to the shoe.Running: Again, they're different. Where the Asics have a gel pad in the heel, these shoes feel flatter. I didn't like feeling the lacing system flapping around, it was kind of distracting. For the first mile (on gravel) I wasn't too sure how much I liked them but once I got into the groove I started to like how light and flexible they felt. Almost like a minimal type shoe. By the time I was well into mile #2 and looking at mile 3 I was no longer thinking about my shoes, but happily running down the road enjoying my shoes. After looking at them for a bit when I got back from my run, I realized I can tuck the lacing fob in to various spots on the tongue. No more flapping around. When I got home I booted up the 'puter and ordered another pair as well as a pair for my wife. For both casual, walking and running, these Salomon Speedcross's will be on my feet.2 weeks later: I've been running in these shoes for a couple of weeks now. The original plan was to rotate them with my trusty Asics but I keep grabbing these Salomon's to wear. They are an excellent shoe. I read some of the more recent reviews on these and both good and not-so good, I can understand the reviewers. One person didn't like the lacing system. I think it adds additional comfort and value to the shoe, but I can see where it might not be for everyone. Others complain about it being narrow. If you have a wide foot, you might want to order a wide size as these do fit a narrow foot. As I stated above, my foot runs a bit narrow, these shoes fit like a glove. As an "oh, by the way": My morning runs have been in temps around 5 to 15 degrees (f). At no time has my foot felt cold and I'm just wearing "normal" running socks.

Nice shoe
This is my second pair of Salomon so I knew from experience to go for a 9.5uk rather than a 9. Very happy with the shoe I like that the design is clean and uncomplicated. It has a nice light weight and unlike some reviews I like the speed laces. I normally run about 30 miles a week (admittedly not all in these shoes, some are in my Salomon trail shoes)

Great for increasing pain, stopping you walking, causing discomfort!
I have worn the same size shoes since I was 18 (now 32), but after using these shoes 3 times, I was left unable to walk or run for days. The design is terrible, and completely cripples me. I cannot put a finger on exactly what is it about these shoes which causes such discomfort, but the design is terrible, that is for sure. Never ever had such an issue with any footwear which I own (walking boots, wellies, running trainers, fashion shoes/boots/ etc) so clearly something is wrong with these Salamon shoes! I would like a full refund, but apparently I am now not eligible :-/ Will contact customer services!

Great Trainer Light Comfortable
I have a few pairs of these now and the comfort is amazing. They are far lighter and cooler than any Nike trainer I have ever had and when new the grip is amazing. The only downside is the grip which is such a soft compound they wear down quick on hard surfaces (to be expected really I suppose). You want regret getting a pair for running, or even casual wear.

Aren't up to the task.....
Arrived promptly, good fit, all looking good, I was very happy with my purchase. Six months on, not so much.Holes have worn through on the outside on both shoes next to where my little toes are, and the tread that I was super impressed with has almost gone. I wear them for running/ walking the dog in the woods and to teach outdoor boot camps (on grass), 4/5 hours usage a week, so well within the parameters of a trail running shoe. So for the price, not impressed at all, I won't be purchasing another pair!

Simply the best running shoes money can buy.
Buy 1 size up for a perfect fit. My second pair now, still exceptional build quality and comfort. Well done Salomon for not going cheap on manufacturing and materials (listen up Nike, Adidas and co!). Exceptional performance in both comfort and grip in ALL terrain. Fantastic.

Very pleased with these
I'm normally a UK9, but after reading countless reviews I opted for a UK10. They fit very well so far, however I am somewhat surprised that Salomon are inconsistent with sizing in their footwear. I have Salomon XA Pro's and Salomon Comet 3D GTX which are UK9.5 and are a comfortable fit even with thick socks. Nevertheless, I have been out and ran my local trails and cannot fault them. I hope that they last a decent amount of time!To summarize, if you are normally a UK9 with a size E width then I would recommend these trainers in size UK10.

Essential Armoury
These are amazingly comfortable - even more so than the Speedcross 2, the grip though is the reason to buy these - gives you unbelievable confidence in descending loose muddy terrain - only thing is they are crap on wet rock - slip right off larger boulders when wet so not the best for that kind of trail - best for wet and muddy bog (or dry bog!). One thing; the size is at least a half size bigger than the Speedcross 2 so try a half size smaller or maybe even a full size.

Nice look, poor sizing, very uncomfortable
I ordered these to go cross-country running and to be honest I really should have sent them back.I found them a little tighter than the size stated, but they were also very uncomfortable - or at least the right shoe was. There was a small piece of material that seemed to jag into the top of my right foot. I couldn't get to it to find if I could cut it off but it was enough to stop me wearing them

Best trainers on the market
Love these trainers, I've owned 3 pairs now but these have an uncomfortable feeling on the inside of the trainer, almost like there's an issue with the seam however not had that before with Speedcross 3's so guess it's a manufacturing defect. Not ideal on long runs but fine on 10k's. Look smart in the grey.

A fantastic shoe for filthy British trail conditions.
I'm a size 8.5 in most sport related footwear including previous Salomon shoes, but on first wear these did feel a little snug. I deliberated exchanging for a larger size but I'm glad I didn't. The first run I did was a muddy ten miler on the South Downs and I completed it in comfort- no blisters or hotspots- the fit was fine. The shoes were very stable and super grippy in even the sloppiest of mud and they did a better job of keeping out grit than my previous Fuji Fell Racers. Probably worth mentioning the little bobbles on the end of the lugs make running on the pavement feel strange, but fine to get to the trail.

Slightly too small.
Tiny bit tight across the bridge of my foot. I am a size 10.5 with wide feet and could have done with ordering size 11. With wearing these for a few weeks though they have given a bit already. These are not waterproof! If you want the waterproof ones you will need to order the gortex ones at a higher price.

Terriffic trainer but comes up small so order bigger size!
Great trainers for muddy conditions and all kinds of cross country, light but excellent cushioning in the sole and good support to the foot..It's important to point out that when ordering you need to get a half size above your usual, I made the mistake of ordering a 9 before reading other reviews and had to return them and re-order a 9.5 which fits perfectly. Just in case I wasn't clear:NOTE: ORDER A HALF SIZE BIGGER THAN YOUR USUAL SIZE!

Great
These are spot on changing from new balance to these didn't know what to expect but was impressed by the quality, after using them for a month I'm more impressed they fit really snug and the grip is great feel like there's nothing on my feet while out running I'll definitely be sticking with salomon from now on

good grip all round and really like the draw cord ...
Really accustomed to using Solomon Footwear and these are to use casually with my cycling. Strong support footwear, good grip all round and really like the draw cord laces. Not shoes to use with thicker socks as the size you order is right with thinner sports socks but too tight with padded versions
