A pricey medicated shampoo and spray did not help. The breeder advised that her own vet had diagnosed skin mites (apparently the whole litter was affecetd likely passed along in straw bedding) and had recommended Frontline as a treatment. I was a bit sceptical having used this product in the past but only for fleas and ticks but not skin mites and was a bit worried using it on such a young pup. But after doing some due diligence and working with the breeder and our own vet, decided to give it a go. It has done the trick: within a couple of days the itching had subsided and after a week, was almost completely gone. The horrible dandruff symptons have gone away. It was easy to apply and has no apparent side effects. Will be using as a preventative from now on.
