Will this valve allow reverse flow? I have an application that requires water to flow in the opposite direction from what is shown in the photos.

Yes this will allow flow in either direction. There is no valve component here. Just a simple gate that opens from zero to 100% flow.

Hello, glad to answer this question for you. Whether the flow will be restricted depends on your fixture and the water pressure you are getting. If you already have a restricted shower head, the water restriction is almost unnoticeable when the valve is fully open. If you have an unrestricted shower head, the flow reduction will be noticed a little bit but it will not affect the normal use. If the connection type and size of your fixture is compatible with our valve's and they're properly connected then it will not drip when it is completely closed. Hope this helps.

Is any part of this made of plastic?

No, all metal nice looking and works well. Of course you can attach to plastic but I would suggest hammer head all metal hand held shower unit

Does this shut with a ball or gate shut off?
