I chose MATHMOS Lava lamp because I know you get what you pay for.It’s made using quality materials.I chose the violet and red . And it’s absolutely beautifulIt takes around 60 minutes to warm upAnd the liquid that’s violet and the wax that’s red is so so clear and vibrant it’s honestly mesmerising!I’m so pleased I went with this company for my lava lampThe company also sells the accessories too.So I think I’ll buy an extra in different colour to change it up now and thenThe bottles themselves are available for £35 on their website.

This is my first lava lamp, I decided to go for a brand with pedigree in making them and I’m very happy with it.It’s well made machined aluminium, quite heavy and looks classy. Some points to note though, the lamp is in three separate pieces the glass bottle just sits on the base and could easily be knocked/toppled so it won’t be suitable to keep within reach of pets/kids. It also gets very warm in use so touching it when on is not a good idea.It takes a few thermal cycles to really start giving the desired effect, but after the first few uses it seems to get up to speed more quickly and the colours and motions of the lava are very soothing to watch. It comes with two bulbs the first one only lasted for one use which was very disappointing but the second one has been working well with no issues. I’ve bought a couple of spare bulbs from another brand but matching the same electrical output as the originals as back up. MATHMOS bulbs are way too expensive for a consumable item.I think it’s important to allow the lamp to fully warm up when switched on and then fully cool after switching off to prolong both bulb life and improve the lava flow with repeated usage. I also think switching the unit with the inline cable switch is safer for the bulb than leaving the inline switch always on and switching on and off via the mains socket outlet. I’m sure that’s how I blew my first bulb.Some people have complained about the bubbles that are visible in the glass, there are some on mine but they are very small and you really have to be very close to the lamp to notice anything. With the lamp in a sensible location in normal use I think the effect of this lamp is beautiful. I have the blue/green colours and I really love the effect it gives. It’s very vibrant and the lava flow is slightly different every time you use it.It is an expensive item for what is basically a novelty lamp, but being make in the UK from quality materials and considering how beautiful it looks I can only say I am very happy with it and I would buy it again if required, with no hesitation.

Just absolutely amazing once the lamp heats up and the wax inside works it's magic moving up and down majestically. I find it very captivating to watch and is a real feature in our living room especially when switched on when completely dark. A real talking point with guests who are instantly drawn to it with its vibrant colours. Would look good in a bedroom too. These lamps appeal to all ages especially children who are enthralled by it and find the floating blobs of wax very amusing. Handy that they come in a choice of colours to suit different preferences. Comes in three pieces - cap, actual lamp and stand. If moving lamp around, it will be far easier if you disassemble those parts first rather than run the risk of dropping and potentially damaging a part as they are not permanently fixed and just sit loosely on one another.Of a very sturdy construction that will ensure a long life. My parents have one that is 30 years old at least and is still going strong!! Well worth purchasing as an interesting focal point in any room!

I absolutely love my Mathmos lava lamp in purple and orange. It is such a beautiful piece and really brings a warm relaxing vibe to the room. The orange wax actually looks more like a reddy pink when it floats near the top which is a lovely surprise and gives it a nice contrast against the purple liquid.It takes about an hour to fully warm up but once it gets going the lava flows smoothly and is really soothing to watch. Perfect for winding down in the evening.The quality is excellent too. It feels really well made and the chrome base and cap look absolutely stunning. It has that classic retro look but still fits in nicely with modern decor.Overall I am so happy with it. It is a stylish calming addition to my space and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of atmosphere.

It's a lava lamp, and a fun decoration for your room. Can't really say much more about it than that.One slight concern is it's not very "grippy" and slides around on a shelf or desk a little more than I would like. The metal parts are also fingerprint magnets so you have to keep wiping it down to keep it looking nice.I do worry that if/when halogen bulbs go out of production it won't be much use after that, but it's fine as it currently is.

Really happy with my Astro lamp.I've had generic lava lamps since I was a kid, but I've never had an Astro lamp from the creators themselves. I figured the higher price point was largely due to the fact they're OG lava lamps, but it's actually FAR more too it.These are not a cheap novelty lamp, these feel really sturdy and high quality. These are hand made in the UK which is the biggest reason I got it over a generic lamp. I noticed the fluid dynamics of the Goo inside behave very differently to generic lava lamps I've used in the past. The lava itself behaves far more randomly and interesting rather than just a cycle of up and down blobs like the cheaper ones do. Possibly due to a superior formula and also perhaps due to the lower lamp temperature used to allow this particular formula they use to function without such high heat output. I imagine it's likely the case cheaper knock off uses a generic formula of lava and to function, needs higher temperatures, tbose higher temperatures force the lava to behave in much more cyclical patterns and motions. Just a theory.The lamp is also very big.Put on some pink Floyd and stare at this with the lights off and it is very cool journey.Also, the packaging was beautifully done. Very well packaged and very satisfying to unbox. As far as unboxings go, this was a treat!Lastly, it came with two free bulbs! Special bulbs for this lamp.

DIe Montage dauert keine Minute.Nach etwa einer Stunde nach dem Einschalten beginnt das Wachs in der Flüssigkeit sich so weit zu verflüssigen, dass es vereinzelt in Röhren nach oben steigt. Mit längerer Brenndauer und Erwärmung durch die Glühbirne verflüssigt es sich immer weiter und es steigen und sinken dauerhaft die Wachsblasen im Gefäß. Die Farbe variiert dabei leicht zwischen Gelb, Orange und Rot.Sehr schön anzusehen. Die Lichstärke entspricht einer stark gedimmten 50 Watt Birne.

En vrai cette lampe est encore plus belle que sur la photo :-) J'ai déjà eu plusieurs lampes à lave dans ma vie mais jamais d'aussi belles. ok le prix n'est pas donné mais la qualité et la durabilité est au RDV :-) j'attend la 2eme que j'ai aussi acheté et que je vais offrir à une amie pour son anniv ... Amazon devrait avoir plus de choix disponible en Prime et aussi vendre des bouteilles sans support , la possibilité de changer la bouteille c'est encore mieux...Reçu ma 2eme bouteille MATHMOS Bleu-Rose avec de gros défauts dans le verre , j'ai contacté le vendeur avec les photos et il m'en à retourné une autre hyper rapidement sans aucun souci :-) je recommande vivement cette marque pour leurs sérieux , je rachèterais sans problème d'autres produits chez vous .... Je suis hyper contente. Merci encore, mon amie va être ravie de recevoir cette lampe pour cadeau :-) TOP

Unfortunately, for us this one was way to big. It is a shame they don't sell smaller ones. They do not even last really long and you have to buy new ones every once in a while. But they are very pricy, it takes a lot time to even heat so you actually see the lava, but if u leave it on for long it will be empty faster and you have to buy a new one. We send it back, it is a no for us. Colors are really cool tho!

Ein Geschenk an meine Tochter. Es sollte etwas ganz besonderes sein. Etwas, was man selbst früher total interessant fand und stundenlang anschauen konnte. Eine Lavalampe ist nicht nur etwas für die vergangenen 80er, auch 2021 ist solch eine Lampe noch immer ein absoluter Hingucker. Erst recht von Mathmos, denn hier kann man kein Billigprodukt erwarten, das ist einfach original Qualität aus GB!Das Lichtspiel ist faszinierend. Bis die ersten Bewegungen kommen vergehen nur ca. 15 Minuten. Richtig heiß ist sie nach ca. einer Stunde. Die "Lava" leuchtet richtig hell, bis nach oben hin, und vollzieht allerhand interessante Bewegungen von den ersten Gebilden der Aufwärmphase an bis zur kontinuierlichen Flussphase, wenn sie sich aufgeheizt hat.Preislich ist die Lampe natürlich nicht mit Billigware zu vergleichen, aber auch die Qualität spricht hier für sich. Selbst der Sockel und der Deckel sind solide aus Metall und glänzen im Licht.Die Lampe kommt mit einem Kabel mit Schalter und muss zuallererst zusammengebaut werde. Der Aufbau ist recht simpel, die Leuchte wird in den Sockel gesetzt, die Glaskaraffe wird aufgestellt und der Deckel oben draufgesteckt, fertig. Man muss erwähnen, dass das Glas nicht fixiert wird, es steht nur im Sockel. Auch wenn ein versehentliches Umwerfen nicht ganz so leicht ist, so ist es sicher nicht unmöglich. Das Glas würde umfallen und davonrollen, im schlimmsten Fall ist ein Bruch natürlich nicht auszuschließen, aber das Glas sieht schon sehr stabil aus.Jedenfalls ist ein sicherer Aufstellplatz notwendig und auch spielende Kinder sollten nicht so leicht da ran kommen.Nach ca. drei bis vier Stunden ist die maximale Temperatur erreicht und Bewegungen sind dann sehr reichlich, allerdings ist die Phase dann auch nicht mehr so interessant, aber das ist dann natürlich Geschmackssache. Eine Lavalampe ist schließlich keine Ganztagesbeleuchtung, hier muss man natürlich auch die Stromkosten mit einkalkulieren, denn so eine Halogenleuchte ist natürlich keine LED und hat eine hohe Verkustwärme, die hier natürlich gewünscht ist.Alles in allem ein hervorragendes, nostalgisches Produkt, das den Weg in die Neuzeit überdauert hat. Und hier kann man nur sagen: Eine tolle Erinnerung an die eigene Kindheit. Wunderschön!
