The 10 Secrets of Healthy Ageing
This book is crammed so full of information, I had to read it twice to absorb. Patrick Holford has done lots of research and there is a very interesting chapter about prescribed medications and their side affects. I would recommed this book to anyone who is interested in maintaining a healthly lifestyle and wants to try to avoid many of the common ailments that come with old age. I think the underlying theme here is prevention is better than cure, and there is plenty of information in the book on how to prevent these illnesses. A very good read.

This is a great book to keep for reference and advice
I first got this book out of the local library and read it from cover to cover. Being over 60 and in (so far) excellent health, I'm keen to stop the rot for as long as I can so I bought a copy to keep as a reference. My partner was particular interested in Patrick's comments about the side effects of statins for cholesterol control and followed his advice to great benefit. If you are interested in improving or maintaining your body and brain for as long as you can, buy this book.

Just in time
Having recently been ill and entered into the "5 a day" (of drugs that is), I am a prime target for this book - and am I glad I have found it! It is well written, clearly well researched, easy to read and jam packed full of information that I had no idea about before, but am so glad to have now. Because of it, I have changed my approach to food and drink, and within four weeks of doing so I have lost weight(in spite of two weeks holiday in France), cut down on my alcohol intake, practically cut out bread and potatoes altogether AND have been able (with my doctor's agreement) to drop one of my drugs. The book presents strong, and perhaps in some areas controversial viewpoints, but always backed by extensive research results and with no sense of this is the "next weird and wonderful approach" which two years down the line will be justly discredited. The emphasis is on eating well, supplementing diet with exercise and vitamin and food supplements, with the overall aim of enjoying life because you are healthy and fit. This book has been the catalyst to set me on to a new, healthy road into old age and I'm grateful for it. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
