How does the sound compare to the Charge 4?

We have 3 charge 4’s and 1 charge 5 The charge 5 definitely has a better sound!!!

Is the charge 5 stereo by itself, or do you need 2 to get stereo?

It is not stereo by itself. It has a woofer and a tweeter in the middle and a passive radiator on both ends. You would need to get two and link them together in Party Boost stereo mode for true stereo.

do you need to connect a device or does it store music?

It doesn’t store music and will only connect with some devices. For example it’s an easy connect to my iPhone but won’t connect to my Audio-Technica turn table.

It can get really loud. I was actually surprised, given how small it is, that it could produce such quality sound that is really loud.
