Cheap DIY solution for dangerously swollen batteries
The media could not be loaded. I've owned my Macbook pro 15" for nearly 8 years now, and in that time I've almost always kept it plugged in like the bad owner that I am. Only within the past few months did I start to notice the telltale signs of a swollen battery (bulging keyboard, malfunctioning trackpad, overall poor battery life) which is impressive, all things considered. When I looked into it online, I saw that there was a recall for 2015 edition MBPs which would cover the cost of replacing the defective batteries. Unfortunately for me, my laptop is a mid-2014 edition and therefore was not covered under the recall.I decided to fix it myself rather than waste time and money sending my laptop to who-knows-where. The package came with the battery, calibration instructions, and two screwdrivers: one for the screws securing the bottom plate and the other for the screws securing the battery components inside the computer. I've attached pictures of how swollen the batteries were so you can have an idea of what I had to deal with. I'd read reviews claiming that the included tools were of poor quality, but I found that any issue I had with unscrewing the bottom plate had more to do with the immense pressure of the batteries pressing against the plate rather than any cheap tool. After removing the plate I was greeted with four mean batteries that looked as if they'd burst if I simply looked at them the wrong way. I've fixed a thing or two on my own but this was my first time dealing with hazardous batteries so I was extremely careful with how I removed them from the laptop casing. I followed along a youtube video and, very slowly, freed the batteries one by one. Why Apple decided to make battery replacement a living hell, I don't know. Poor design, if you ask me. I advise anyone reading this to be very careful with how you pry the batteries off and with what you choose to do it (I added a picture of the best tool I could find to do the job, not pictured is the rubbing alcohol I sparingly added to some particularly stubborn areas). In retrospect I was perhaps too gentle with the removal, dragging out the amount of time it took me to do it, but I don't want that to be a reason for anyone to think they need to be more aggressive while doing it--lithium fires are no joke.Once I finally got the damn things off, I cleaned up the dust and dirt that built up over the years and then eventually got to placing the new battery in. As I held the flat, new battery in my hands I noticed that the model number was A1494 and not A1398 as my computer requires. Looking back at the title of the item I see that it lists not only these model numbers but A1618 as well. Caveat emptor, I suppose. Anyways, I was still able to make the battery fit after doing a few practice runs before removing the plastic shield on the bottom. Once I was comfortable with the maneuver I plugged the battery into the slot on the laptop (after awkwardly bending the wires since they were too long as they were) and positioned the batteries into their rightful spots. After replacing the back casing and securing it with screws I crossed my fingers and pressed the power button. Thankfully it worked and now here I am writing a review for this battery after running a diagnostic test on it (the results of which I have included a screenshot of, as well). When I turned my laptop on it booted up at 22%. It's been an hour now and it's only gone down to 19%, which is very impressive compared to how quickly my old battery would run through its power. I have yet to do the suggested calibration but once I do I will amend this review with its updated condition.TL;DR If you're the type of person who can handle taking things apart and want to save yourself a pretty penny while doing so, I recommend getting this battery. It wasn't the exact model that my laptop required but it's still working fine nonetheless.

MacBook Pro Battery is perfect!
My MacBook Pro battery started swelling AGAIN and I knew it was time to replace. Apple replaced it before when it was a couple of years old (at my expense, of course!). The fans were running almost constantly, the computer developed bulges on the top and bottom of the laptop and the battery warning was saying "replace!" I took it to Apple and they laughed at me because it was 6 years old, called around and finally Best Buy said they were an "Apple Certified Repair Facility" so I called them. They said to bring it in and they would replace the battery. I made an appointment, took off work and drove 45 minutes one way to take my MacBook Pro to have the battery replace at Best Buy who had told me on the phone they could do that. Take it to the "Geek Squad" and the young man said "No, they don't work on Macs and certainly couldn't replace a battery!" I walk out and a gentleman who looked a little older than the kid at the "professional computer repair counter" asked if I found everything I needed. UM, NO! I told him my story and he said they were an "Authorized Apple Repair Facility" and I laughed...he then said my only recourse was to buy a new Apple computer which he would be glad to sell me. I take this time to write a lengthy review in the hope it helps others in this situation. I then decided to look at the possibility of replacing the battery myself. I looked at Youtube and there were two examples: one was pretty simple and the other required taking every component of the laptop out of the shell, replacing the battery, and reinstalling the components. Fortunately, my situation was the former! I bought the battery from this Amazon site, watched the video three times and successfully replaced the battery. I held my breath while the computer slowly rebooted and worked fine! I will update if the battery doesn't work over the next few days. The only caveat is the provided screwdrivers didn't seem to work but I had my own so was able to take the necessary screws out and back in.

Works for Mid 2015 MacBook, battery life restored?
This battery worked as a replacement for a mid 2015 MacBook Pro. My previous battery had started to bubble/separate and required that I replace the battery. The battery life seems to be a little better, but don't expect it to be like the battery when purchasing a new Apple product. It could be the device or the replacement battery, but it still only lasts approximately 6 hours on a full charge.

After replacing battery, mac seems good as new. Great customer service also.
I originally got this replacement battery in September 2022, the replacement process is a bear but the laptop worked well after the replacement. Since then, all was well. But in February 2023 (6-7 months), the battery indicator stopped showing up in the upper status bar and the System Information screen does not show that there's a battery installed. The laptop only worked when plugged in. I contacted the seller and he immediately offered a refund or a replacement since it was within the warranty period.I installed the replacement battery (going through opening the laptop again) and now all is well.Is this all good? At least I'm covered with warranty if it happens again. And the seller was very prompt about responding and replacing it. I hope it lasts longer this time.

Don't use the screwdrivers they offered
They provide two screwdrivers but completely ruined the screws in my MacBook after that I can't unscrew them at all.The battery has good quality and works well until now.

Good battery with an issue
This is a great battery. Came as 50% charged in a good packing. Only problem is the underneath glue does not stick well to the mac's body. It came off the second day and I could hear it moving. I had to open the Mac again and use some foam tape. Otherwise it is a good battery for this price.

Un reemplazo de alta calidad. La MacBook Pro 15 mediados 2015 la ha detectado sin problemas, recuerden calibrar después después de instalarla.

Does not last
Ordered July 25th 2022. After a couple of weeks I gave this battery a good review. Now after 9 months barely lasts 1 1/2 to 2 hours. That should be run times after 4-5 years.Buy at your peril.
