Brilliant, loved all the characters, reminded me of some of my friends, and of how blessed I am to have friends that care. Love really does make the world go around.😀

Amusing.
When spinster Barbara has a sudden health scare she decides the best course of action is to visit her sister in the sleepy country village of Winsley Green in Somerset to convalesce. Pauline and Barbara are chalk and cheese and have never really spent much time together, so it isn’t long before gripes are aired and frustration sets in.When Pauline accidentally knocks down a man outside the pub who appears to have fallen on hard times, her kind, caring nature forces her to take Bisto under her wing. As time goes by the three form quite the unlikely friendship and outspoken, crotchety Barbara finds a new lease of life. This is a highly amusing book, full of funny moments and lovable characters who will stay in your heart for a long time. I enjoyed it from the first page to the last and will continue to look for books full of the older generation and their hilarious, carefree antics.

Heart-warming and full of life
This is certainly a delightful book with some original characters who grow before your eyes. My favourite has to be the spiky Barbara, who starts off the book at her lowest and who slowly loses some of the protective shell she has armoured herself with. The relationship between the two sisters emerges and there are some poignant moments between them. Bisto, of course, seems to undergo the most change as you learn the truth about his life and he has quite a few surprises and hidden talents. With a cast of quirky characters and some dry and witty lines, this is a book to cheer you up and can truly be described as heart-warming. The yoga session has to be one of the high spots for me! It is the sort of book which offers you both humour and pathosand I would like to think that there could be return trips to visit Pauline, Barbara, Bisto et al.In short: As Len would say: Laughter. Tears. Perfect.

Love and fun are not just for the young!
I read a few pages of this every night in bed to help give me a calm night’s sleep. It is quite a gentle book, well written, and shows that life isn’t just for the young. Older people have similar lives and beliefs and don’t have to be severe and dull. Life can go with love and laughter no matter how old you are. Life and love is not just for the young!

A feel good read - gently humorous
Enjoyed this who feel good light hearted romp about 2 very different sisters. One who is a people person and loved by all in her village, and one a prickly no nonsense individual who has been an organiser all her life and doesn't know how to relax. Amusing encounters and how they get involved in the village around. Something to make you smile
