After using your axe, you should take a couple minutes to clean it and properly store the axe to prevent problems. First, clean the head of any sap or tannins, using steel wool and acetone on the head. If not too dirty, then you can use some extra fine steel wool and turpentine. Do not forget to clean the handle of dirt and sap.
