I purchased this tortilla press to make homemade tortillas and have been very pleased with it. One of the main reasons I chose this model is that it is made from cast iron. Many of the lower-priced presses are aluminum, while cast iron models often cost significantly more. This press offered the durability and performance of cast iron at a very reasonable price. The press is heavy, solid, and feels like it will last for many years. It produces evenly shaped tortillas with very little effort. I recommend using parchment paper on both sides of the dough to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy. I primarily use it to make low-carb tortillas using Torigoe Seifun low-carb flour, kinako flour, water, salt, and a small amount of baking powder. Even with alternative flours, the press produces thin, consistent tortillas that cook beautifully. The cast iron construction also allows the press to retain heat well. I often warm the press slightly, turn off the heat, and then use the stored heat while making several tortillas in succession. Most tortilla press reviews focus on traditional masa tortillas, but if you're interested in making keto or low-carb tortillas, this press works extremely well. Don’t get the aluminium version, won’t do its job properly if it’s not this heavy cast iron version. Great item, reliable service and excellent price.
