Q: Why does it say sugar free but the ingredients listed by the community says it contains sugar?

They deceptively market the product as “sugar free” yet use the chemical sweetener aspartame which is horrible for you. Real sugar is better than fake artificial sweeteners. It would be better if they didn’t sweeten it at all or used stevia (a natural sweetener)

Q: Calories in each drop?

From Ricola's website, each drop has 8 calories and 3.5g of carbohydrate. Most of that is from the isomalt, which has about 2 calories per gram (vs 4 for sugar), so 3.5 grams of isomalt per drop. The remaining one kilocalorie is probably from the herb extracts, which probably means they're an oil-based extract. Isomalt is probably used for texture and crystallization; the main sweetener is aspartame, which is zero-calorie. FYI, the non-sugar-free version has 14 calories, which tracks. Substitute 3.5 grams of sugar for 3.5 grams of isomalt, and that component doubles. Sugar is significantly sweeter than isomalt, so in switching, they needed a bit more sweetness, hence the aspartame.
