I'll get this out of the way first: this is a one way converter ...it is NOT bi-directional. It adapts/converts a DVI-I connection to a VGA connection. The INPUT is DVI, the OUTPUT is VGA. Audio signals will NOT be passed through this converter; VGA cables are not made to handle audio signals, only video signals. So if there is audio to be passed along you will need to make a separate additional audio connection. While VGA cables have been around since the early days of personal computers, they *are* capable of passing Hi Def video signals. It would do you well, if you're not familiar with the subtle variances in DVI connections, to do some online research into the various DVI configurations; there is lots of easy to find information. Make sure you get the correct pin configuration to work with your situation. Overall, this is a high quality adapter. It's fit and finish are first rate and it works well. Video passed through this adapter is clean and shows no artifacts. Highly recommend for your DVI-I to VGA conversion needs.
