Great size
The handle is more substantial than most paring knives and very comfortable for my hand. I have several others that are good but the petite handle is a drawback. I found this to be excellent for boning chicken and other small kitchen tasks. The steel is also good and takes a razor edge. In the photo is a comparison with a Victorinox handle.

Wow
What a great knife! Super sharp and a large handle for my large hands. This knife is so versatile and comfortable I do most of my food prep with it. But it wouldn't hurt to see what other knives they offer.

Best kept secret, better than the well known, more expensive brands
I'd never heard of this brand, but based on the number of rave reviews, particularly those from professional chefs and restaurant staff, I decided it was worth trying, especially since I wasn't risking that much at this price. I am thrilled I did. I've spent far more on knives by top makers that were very good, but not as good this one at 1/4 (or less) of the price. It's mind boggling to me that this brand isn't better known. The handle is comfortable, ergonomic, fits the natural curves of the hand, the design facilitates knife work. I was concerned the knife might be heavy because of the size of the handle, but it's lightweight and well balanced. The blade is extremely sharp, but although I'm accident prone and don't have the best knife skills, I haven't had any of the mishaps I have with other similarly sharp knives. I've been telling everyone who'll listen what a pleasure it is to use this Mercer knife, how it makes food prep not only a breeze, but a joy. I truly couldn't be happier, not a single complaint. My search is over. I intend to make Mercer my brand, will order their other knives and will give this knife and others as gifts to friends and loved ones, assuming the other knives I plan to get measure up to this one. With Mercer's prices I can afford to share my wonderful discovery, and everyone should have a few really good knives. I've learned what a world of difference it can make, and in my opinion, Mercer is the very best of the best, but without the price tag you'd expect for this kind of quality. I cannot recommend this knife highly enough, and am grateful for Amazon and the reviewers, because I might never have known about Mercer knives otherwise. I would strongly urge purchasing a blade cover to keep the blade sharp, especially if you keep your knives in a drawer. I ordered some from Messermeister and am very happy with them, here's the link for the 3.5" that fits this knife, but they have a full range of sizes in the drop down menu: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D3HD25C/ref=od_aui_detailpages01?ie=UTF8&th=1

Good tool, good value.
Good kitchen tool. pretty stout for a paring knife. Good "beefy" handle allows for a good secure grip, and stiff, thicker-than-most blade. Pretty sharp but not quite razor sharp. Will handle the tougher jobs better than the thin, flexible blades with small handles.

Nice paring knife with ergonomic handle
I like this paring knife. The handle is a bit thicker and more ergonomic for my artritic hands. The textured plastic handle is easy to hang on to and can go in dishwasher.

The Glock of Kitchen Paring Knives.
I could write a page or more just about how excellent Mercer knives are (I own two, a Mercer Millenia 10" chef, this paring knife, along with a Shun chef knife, a Wurstof chef and paring and slicer), I could write another page on how excellent most stamped blades are over forged blades, due to the low cost and thinness and 17 degree angle of bevel and how that allows them to cut so amazingly (check out the Victorinox Classic line as well). I will just put it this way, if you are all about ego and looks, and have a hundred or more to blow on a paring knife...by all means buy a Global, Shun or Wurstoff. However, if you want a paring knife that is razor (and I literally mean razor, it will shave your hair off your arm) sharp with a grippy (two different plastics) comfortable handle that allows you to use it for hours at a time...buy this knife. This is the knife I grab for when doing any quick basic cutting in the kitchen, opening plastic around bottle tops, cutting packaging on food, cutting cheese or butter, or super thin slices of cucumber or getting into tough areas on bones...it's a razor but has a very protective handle that does not slip. I have recommended it over other paring knives to many of my home cook friends and though they are not at first attracted by the looks, they all can be found in daily use when I go over to their houses. I also have a paring knife from Wurstof, that i found was just not sharp enough because of the bevel of the grind, not bad but this is much, better. I also like how this handle protects your knuckle a bit and puts the hand up above the blade a bit, something much more pronounced when you look at the Mercer Millennia Chef knife...the handle is way above the cutting edge of the blade and I like that a lot (Victorinox is reworking its classic series with a new angle to the blade but it does not look or feel right at all the angle is all wrong, I don't know why they would change such a "classic." I would say the knife to compare this knife to is the Victorinox Swiss classic four inch paring knife which costs even a few bucks less than this one. I sent back the Victorinox because it was not as sharp as this one and vary dainty and cheap feeling and did not have a comfortable handle like this one and that is going to be a matter of taste for you. Victorinox stamped series are great and widely respected but I think the Mercer knives are designed to out perform them in a real working kitchen and they were going after the stamped Victorinox series as their main competitor. Mercer is not well known at all outside the cooking industry, but I don't think it's going to take long for people to catch on that for 22 bucks they van have a Chef knife that cuts as good as a Shun and for 12 bucks they can have a paring knife that beats everything in terms of function in it's category in my opinion. For 38 bucks you have all the knives you will ever need in your life...or maybe you will just keep these in a drawer and keep the Wurstoff's on the wall magnet when foodies come over...

Very nice, one for a larger hand
Arrived nice and sharp, in a secure packet. Was able to peel an apple easily with a very thin peel. Cut through the stalk without much extra pressure, no concerns about a jump. One for larger hands in my estimation, and balanced well to the back. The handle will be keeping the fingers in the holding hand well clear of the blade.
