How long will this last on Chicago outdoor patio (mostly covered) befor it rusts? Is there a protection spray paint I can apply to prevent rust?

It should last a pretty long time! This set has been through a lot of crazy weather and hasn’t rusted at all, but any rust prevention spray from a hardware store should suffice!

Is the yellow color a true yellow or more orange-yellow?

This product is true yellow, the color is very beautiful, and the yard, terrace and patio are very suitable.

What is the weight capacity for the chairs?

Their site says 249 lbs. neither of us weighs more than 170 so we cannot say from our own experience, but they work for us.

In the closeup photos, there are white plastic things attached in several places. What are these? Can they be removed permanently?

Don't remove. There are a total of four plastic pieces on the chairs, two clear plastic pieces on the seat, this protects the chair when you put it up and down, like cushion and then plastic on the arm of the chair, again used to protect chair so it doesn't scratch.
