Does this unit bring air from the outside into the inside? Or does it bring air from the outside only into the unit to cool it off, then exhaust?

Accepted Answer

It does bring in outside air, contrary to what anyone else says. Go ahead and remove the rear panel. You’ll see that there is a blower fan behind the evap fins which pulls in air from the inlet hose - but this path is in no way sealed off or isolated. Once the hose opens to the body of the unit, air is free to flow throughout the entirety of the inside of the unit. Which means that the fan pulling air over the condenser coils is absolutely taking in outdoor air. Ran mine for a couple weeks before I opened it up…everything was caked with dirt and grime. This thing is going to be a nightmare to clean. Luckily I don’t have mine anymore so I don’t have to deal with this terrible product. Shane on Midea for their blatantly false advertising.

My neighbor smokes on his patio below me. If I run this unit while he is smoking, will it bring the smokey air into my apartment?

Size of the hose?

The hose is actually a dual hose in a rectangular size about a foot wide and 8 inches long and connects to the window kid provided.  It can be expanded so that the unit can be approximately 3 feet or so from the window.
