Mr. Heater MH18B Propane Heater, Red

It's worth stressing that this is a Propane heater, not Butane. Those people complaining it doesn't light correctly are using Butane which is totally wrong and won't work. With Butane you'll be hard pressed to even light the pilot light. Butane is low quality and barely produces any heat and has low very flow pressure at lower temperatures- the very temperatures you'll need this heater to combat. Propane, which you will have to order specially works flawlessly as advertised. In North America pure Propane is readily available due to much colder temperatures. In the UK you'll have to order it specially from BOC Gasses and run the heater on a hose. Even the "Extreme" en417 gas cans in UK are at best only a paltry 30% Propane (advertised rated down to -27C and) will work ok, but cost a absolute fortune. So it's highly recommended you order a Mr Heater propane tank hose (with filter) and BOC or similar pure Propane cylinder. The heater will then run for days and days. If you want portable then you'll have to get the refillable 1 pound tanks and an adapter, and also fill them from the BOC gas cylinders. Absolutely outstanding heater that'll blast the cold away. Very highly recommended.

The Heater is well built and produces a good level of heat on all settings. it can be used with either the small portable propane gas canisters or, with the appropriate hose connection, a larger propane gas tank. Initial lighting produces a slight odour, this may disappear on further use. There is a slight delay in ignition as the air is purged from the hose when using a larger gas tank. It is easily portable with the small gas canisters, the larger tank needs to be carried separately. It is possible to fix one canister on one side and and leave the other side with no canister attached. The unit can be used with the hose connection too a propane tank on one side and no canister on the other. This heater is from the USA and there seems to be a longer delay when bought in the UK and delivery tracking, in this instance, was appalling. The tracking details kept changing but with no logic or progression and then returned to the initial tracking details so after over running by more than 10 days the unit was requested from Amazon for a refund. When it arrived 30 minutes after the refund the box was torn and battered, the internal polystyrene packing was broken in several places. The heater was covered in minor scratches and the fire guard was slightly bent and one attachment had become dislocated causing a scratch about 1-2Cms by 2Mm through the paint to the bare metal. The heater looks durable and well made but longer term performance is not available at this time, 3 days after receipt. The heater was bought to provide local heat in a domestic location when the full central heating was not required, also as a patio heater and a heat source in my caravan awning. I think it will fill these functions extremely well.

Best purchase along with the hose hooked up to 30ib propane tank lets out so much heat consumption is kow even on the highest setting all the safety features are thought of build quality tough durable worth the money for sure very smile easy to use many uses I’m not sure how the consumption is on the portable tanks but I would 100 % recommend it

Big daddy version of one I already reviewed,yes I bought two,made for Coleman 1lb cannisters but can use calor gas propane bottles and any screw on cannister with the adaptor,connecting hose with it's fitting is required for calor gas,never used above low setting heat output is very good,all in it's a very quiet well made thing with the usual anti tilt cut off,double the price of it's little brother though

Haven't tried it yet - need to by some gas. I'm sure it'll be OK.

This product can not be sold in Europe, the product has pass the tests to get the CE certification, it was sold to me in Portugal, trought Amazon.es by All is well company it was defective, they offered me to buy a new one with a 50.. euro credit, now the European company that could fix it refuse for liability reason, I am stuck with a large use less purchase, All it's not well...

I purchased this product because despite running two very efficient and very expensive heat pumps, my home was always cold. Additionally, my electric bill was becoming more and more outrageous. I was hopeful that the Mr. Heater Big Buddy Heater would at least be able to heat up my bedroom and also be able to heat up the master bathroom for showers and such. That said, I have been extraordinarily happy with the performance of the Big Buddy Heater. The heat output can be tailored to the exact needs of the moment, there are no unpleasant smells produced by the heater, and the fact that it puts out infrared heat makes it very pleasant to be near when the room is chilly. The heater is very easy to start with its piezo igniter and the heat produced is infinitely adjustable from low (4,000 BTU) to high (18,000 BTU). While the model I purchased did not come with the built-in heat distribution fan, I was able to add the factory fan with a purchase through Amazon (Mr. Heater Big Buddy Heater Back Cover Fan (E78404) (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09S16JL8G)). I would recommend that everyone purchase the new Big Buddy Pro model that does come with the factory built-in fan. I use the Mr. Heater 6-Volt Power Adapter to power my heater's newly added fan (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HE6OAE). I also use the Mr. Heater 12' Hose with Regulator & Quick Disconnect (F271803) (www.amazon.com/12ft-Big-Buddy-Hose-Regulator/dp/B000UC7966) to supply low-pressure propane to my heater. I have found the Big Buddy Heater to be very efficient in its use of propane. It has saved me a great deal of money by not having to use my heat pumps to stay warm. In summary, I have been overwhelmingly happy with my Mr. Heater Big Buddy Heater purchase. I have had no problems of any kind with the product. Further, I have been so happy with the performance of the heater that I have purchased a second one. Mr. Heater should be very proud of this product.

Good for me, well build, very warm. Could use one or two green canister or 20lbs tank with filter/adaptor. Heats my camper in no time (-15celsius)
