Bought it to get depths. When I anchor sometimes I use it in my dinghy to scout anchorages for my sailboat instead of risking running aground. Works great for my purpose. Don’t use it for fish finding.

Used it last year in Minnesota fishing in a rental boat. It did pick up fish and structures like advertised

Was hesitant based on cheap price. Bought it to measure depth on a Canadian fishing trip with a rented boat. First day I dropped it over the side while drifting/trolling. Worked great. Next day I placed it in the bilge and was shocked to see it is truly a through hull transducer. For the price?! You do need a little water in the bilge. Sometimes can’t measure at full throttle but sure can when approaching a fishing spot at moderate speed. It will “mark” fish, but as with all cheap fish locators I take that with a grain of salt. BUT, if there are no marks it’s probably telling you something. Best product for the money I’ve ever purchased.

Bought mine late last year for a planned Canada fishing trip and just got it out to test it before the trip on our local lake. Very erratic and inconsistent readings from 0 up to 432 feet.. I’m past the return window and only a few days from leaving on the Canada trip…

This was super easy to use and install on my kayak. Unfortunately my poor paddling skills would drop water onto the face. The unit would fog up. Unfortunately, I flipped my kayak and the unit was submerged for a couple minutes. Didn’t work after that point.

Figured I would share my preliminary results of using the portable fish finder in saltwater conditions. The unit itself feels like a professional hand held device and has a solid feel. The wire connection that connects the sonar and the monitor has a quick disconnect, care needs to be taken here so that it does not disconnect during usage. However, I have not had that issue, even in rough jersey shore seas. The sonar device can be mounted on the boat hull, a fishing pole, or you can just use the included float. If you are using the float make sure that the wire does not sink to the bottom, this could snag it. In terms of corrosion resistance, the sonar is holding up pretty well so far, as well as the wire. In-water testing was also successful, unit picks up under water structures, and accurate depth. Schools of fish show up very well and it was really nice to see a functioning unit that was not $2500. The LCD display is easy to read and features a back light that can be turned off to save battery life. I would highly recommend this unit for people that are looking for a fish finder that doesn't break the bank.

It's obviously not the 'best' fish finder out there, but it finds bottom, let's you know if it's weedy, registers where your bait is, (using minnows, i don't know about small jigs and bait i had to turn sensitivity to 4 to see the minnows, maybe putting it to 5 would sense smaller baits) and marks fish. A lot of people complaining about it being confusing, but if you take 2 minutes to actually read the instructions it's not an issue. Pretty simple device but it works. Got it for ice fishing. Only complaint is how long the transducer cable is. It would be nice if there was a 5 foot option instead of 25 feet. But not the end of the world. If you want something but don't want to spend several hundred, this is the way to go.
