Great $3000 fan
I call this our $3000 fan (more on that in a moment). It's installed in our living room which is pretty much a 17' cube (17' wide, 17' long with a 17' ceiling). It's mounted on a 6' (72 inch) Casablanca down tube which puts it at about 11' off the floor. We've had it now for just about six months, it's been used in conjunction with our air conditioning system during an above average temperature summer and it is wonderful. Generally we use speed settings 2, 3 and 4; I've had it up to 5 on a really hot day once or twice. The fan moves a lot of air fairly evenly and on those settings, is almost inaudible, there's slight air noise on setting 4. I was concerned about mounting it to the long down tube, worried that wobble would be a problem. The first time it was powered up, it had a very slight wobble which we were able to correct with the balance kit in less than 15 minutes. It now has zero wobble on all six speed settings. Oh yeah, about that $3000 number. While climbing around in the attic to install the fan, I discovered several areas of termite activity. So the cost of the fan, down tube, installation materials and having the house tented for termites was just under $3000, but we got a great fan and hopefully prevented further damage from termites.

Silent Running
Best ceiling fan I have ever owned. I bought this fan in 2014 and installed it in my bedroom. I was looking for a silent fan. This is it. 11 years running every night on the low setting and still silent. I highly recommend this if you are someone that does not like a noisy ceiling fan. The price has gone up since 2014, but it is definitely worth the money.

Quiet and efficient fan; bearings failed after 8 years, but warranty service was excellent
I bought this fan after a lengthy search and a couple of frustrating false starts, and am extremely happy with it. Construction, fit, and finish are excellent; installation difficulty is the same as most other ceiling fans, and the instructions are clear and first rate. It moves a lot of air, and the motor and mechanism are absolutely quiet. The remote control is full-function, including forward-reverse. The control does have one quirk: if you start the fan after it is turned off (or a power interruption), you have to start it on high, let it come up to speed, then reduce the speed to the setting you want. From then on you can change speed at will. But if you try to start (or reverse direction) on a low speed, the fan speed will "hunt" by speeding up and slowing down but will not settle on a steady speed. I know that speed control of a DC motor is more complicated than for an AC motor, but that seems like a marginal engineering design... Since we run the fan at a steady speed for long periods of time, this quirk isn't much of a bother to us and everything else about the product merits five stars. One additional note: The extra-short downrod needed for low-clearance mounting is included with the fan. The Casablanca product sheet says one is "available", and I spent quite a bit of time trying (unsuccessfully) to find it; was very happy to see it in the box! UPDATE: The motor bearings got noisy and began to fail after 8 years of continuous running on low speed. A little disappointing given Casablanca's "lifetime" claims, but the warranty service was outstanding. I called the Casablanca customer service number and, after a 2 minute conversation, the agent submitted paperwork for a replacement fan. It shipped the same day after I sent them the invoice for the original fan, and I received it two days later along with a prepaid shipping label to return the defective unit. Back in business after only four days. I decreased the fan's rating from 5 to 4 stars, but want to give Casablanca a shout-out for great customer service.

Cool and quiet nights!
The best ceiling fan we have ever owned, bar none! We let the electricians assemble it and hang it, so I can't speak to that (although they were done in about 10 minutes, start to finish). It is quiet. So quiet I don't even know it's on. We have it on a 24 inch downrod because it's located in a tray ceiling, and even on the highest setting, it doesn't move. Not one wobble. The finish is beautiful. We chose the hammered wood side of the paddles, but the reverse is just as nice, if a little lighter. The only issue I have is that the remote is a bit outdated looking and could probably use a major update...it's plastic and an ugly off-white and while it works well, it's a bit incongruous when you look at the beauty of the fan. I know this is nitpicking, but I feel like the Casablanca remotes have not been updated since the '90's. Great fan, we love it and I would highly recommend. Seller was quick, box was sealed and product was brand new.

Super Fan
We bought a similar fan for our kitchen last year and were very happy with it, so we ordered a second one to replace an old, VERY NOISY fan in our bedroom. These fans are well built, easy to install, and super quiet. If you don't look at it to see the blades moving, you won't hear it. The light kit and downpipe are ordered separately but easy to install on the fan motor. The wires for the light kit are already in the fan and the remote control is built to operate both the motor and light kit. If your home has a second circuit for the lights on the fan, you will have to run separate wires through the center of the fan for the light kit but that was easy to accomplish. The six speeds, very quiet operation, and remote control make this fan a winner in my book!

Casablanca DC Fan Warning
Do NOT buy this fan and do not rely solely on this review, search the internet for others experience, PRIOR to purchase. I Purchased this fan in 2014, installed it and it was the quietest best fan I ever owned. In early summer 2015 we started the fan and something changed. The fan jerked, hummed loudly would not hold a constant speed, it was basically unusable. When I contacted Casablanca I was 30 days past my one year warrantee for electronic parts but was told I had a "Limited" life time warrantee on the DC motor. At that time I decided to purchase the remote receiver unit ($80) on the top of the fan which for a DC fan also has a part in controlling the speed. It seemed the most likely suspect with power surges and thunderstorms that occurred over the winter. The remote receiver did not correct the issue. I again contacted Casablanca and tried to obtain the DC motor. They would not sell it to me. Casablanca recommended 2 service providers within 60 miles of my house that could obtain a motor and fix this fan. When I contacted authorized service centers they were folks that worked out of their homes and not very interested in helping me. They would not stand behind the lifetime motor warrantee and wanted payment in full to order the motor. After $550 I threw this fan in the trash and purchased a different manufacturer. I am now $1100 in for a working ceiling fan in my master bedroom. Do NOT purchase a Casablanca DC fan as like many other folks on the internet will testify, the speed sensing circuit will fail, Casablanca customer representatives are rude, will not help you, the Casablanca lifetime motor warrantee is only exists in writing, you will never have a claim satisfied and you will buy another manufactures product anyway. Just go to another manufacturer first so you don't have to spend $1100 and the time to write this review.

Lots of air movement with this big, silent fan.
In our previous home we had several Casablanca fans for 15+ years and they all worked flawlessly almost year round. So when we needed to replace a fan in our new home, we turned to Casablanca again and bought the Panama 54". It was very well packaged, included solid quality parts for several install options, and was a breeze to install with the clear and detailed instructions. It moves a lot of air, is silent also on the highest speed and the remote control with 6 speeds is easy to handle.

Great fan, quiet, but light kit options seem to be dwindling
I purchased the fan to replace a 20 year old Casablanca fan that was wobbling beyond my ability to repair. The fan was relatively easy to install although I did have trouble pairing the remote. The fan is very quiet. If you are intending to add a light kit on, make sure you can actually purchase the light kit in the color you want! Hunter/Casablanca has a number of options listed in their catalog such as inside four light fitters, glass bowl styles with either 3 internal lights or a more recent integrated LED fitter. But when I went to actually purchase the inside four fitter in my color, everyone was out of stock, and its not clear whether Casablanca/Hunter are going to keep this in stock in the future. I had to purchase a Casablanca light kit from e-bay. The Casablanca web page only displays outside light fixtures and bowl fixtures as of October 2020, so I'm not sure what their future direction is going to be. In my bedroom, the fan light fixture is the major source of light for the room. The lumen output of the bowl fixtures is much lower than the four light fitter. Two installation tips that should be in the instructions -- a) when you are at the point of attaching screws above the fan, put a towel around the open slots in the fan chassis, so that if you drop a screw you don't have to take the fan down and shake the screw out of the chassis. And b), when you get to the point of powering on the fan and pairing the remote, read ahead in the instructions where you find out you need to install batteries and press a SET button with 30 seconds of the first power on.
