First published in 1922, Etiquette has served for generations as the premiere guide to manners and decorum. It details the nuances of various social settings as well as how to act within them, so as not to offend any parties present. Different settings often call for different conduct. In addition to covering general forms of communication, salutations, greetings, and conversation, this classic manual also details what behaviors and topics are socially acceptable (and unacceptable) at specific events such as weddings, formal dinners, engagements, funerals, christenings, games and sports, business and politics, ball and dances, and many, many more. It will teach you the contemporary time periodโs sense of how an individual should conduct oneself, offering tips and tricks long forgotten in an age of impulse, social awkwardness, and conversational disrepair, condoned by our reliance on technology. Perfect for all proper etiquette situations
My mother and I enjoyed reading this book together and refreshing ourselves on proper etiquette. It was a great bonding experience and we really enjoyed the book.

It's good to know some old-school rules
It's good to know the old-school manners. I learned about this book from the Celebrity PA Network website, and I wanted to brush up on my etiquette because I'm a personal assistant for a high-net-worth employer.

Promotes Kindness, Politeness, and Appropriateness as a Lifestyle
This book promotes kindness, politeness, and appropriateness as a lifestyle. The situations, of course, are entirely outmoded -- almost 100 years old -- but an intelligent reader can read between the lines to discern the appropriate, polite, and kind way to behave in contemporary situations. Simply because of my own interests, I particularly like Mrs. Post's observations on style and dress; her comments about fashion are spot-on, even for the 21st century. Because of changes in dress over the course of the 20th century, her list of clothing appropriate for a well-bred man can be used even for a contemporary woman to build her own wardrobe -- with reading between the lines and discernment, of course.

This book is phenomenal. Iโve read it twice now, it now has a permanent home in my travel bag.
I loved every bit of it. The way the author speaks immediately grabbed my attention, like if you were to just walk past a celebrity you enjoy, I paid undivided attention through all hours of the night reading this.

Not the real thing
The book itself isn't horrible and sets a good foundation for why etiquette and all the actings are important but this is not the original book of etiquette by Emily Post. I did buy the kindle version and that was only $0.99 so that's why I'm not super upset abbout it but again this is technically not what I paid for. The version that I ended up buying was actually by a guy from London who added in his own information to the book.

Good manners make others around you comfortable.
This book would be kept next to the Bible.

Circa 1922 Skiddo, Kiddo
This book was originally published in 1922, so if you intend to buy this on the advertisement that it has been re-written for modern usage, think again. Emily Post's Etiquette, 18 is probably the most recent.Still, if you want to know what was "right to do" post-World War I in America, this is the book to read.

but fun to read and educational to an extent - excellent ...
Not the slightest bit relevant to today, but fun to read and educational to an extent - excellent for digging into when you know that you are going to be interrupted too many times to follow a story!
