Calibrated already for me, right out of the box. I had no need to do any calibration.

Q: Can this monitor be used as a tv screen with a directv box as the source? if so what is needed?

Yes, it absolutely can. You don't need anything. The monitor already comes with HDMI cable. BUT this is a MONITOR. It does not have a remote control (because it's a monitor) and you will not be utilizing it by using it as TV. I would recommend buying a 4H TV, if your intention is to watch TV. There are cheaper and thiner 4H TVs.

The ones I received were just the monitor. I really do like the monitors.
