Kirabook turns off spontaneously while running on battery, killing your autonomy and the reason to buy it
I have paid a premium amount for performance specs I could have obtained for significantly less money. The product is beautiful and well-balanced. I would rate it five stars except for the fact IT SPONTANEOUSLY TURNS OFF WHILE RUNNING ON BATTERY.The battery reports to be fully charged but it seems as if it actually has little or no energy in it. The O.S. believes it is running with plenty of fuel in the tank so it does not even get a chance to sleep or hibernate. Think data corruption. It seems as if the battery really has no power because once it turns off, when I turn it back on (still unplugged) it will last even less time. By the second or third time it simply will not turn on at all unless plugged. So, my guess is that the battery holds no power or its internal power regulators are failing.Either way, MY PRIMARY REASON TO BUY KIRABOOK IS DEFEATED; that is to provide me with a highly portable, sufficiently powerful computer I may take along to every place I visit.

My Kirabook Experience
I am an average computer user, I don’t push the limits with games or programs I just get my day to day done. I am in sales and I travel for a living and my computer comes with me. I buy a new computer every few years, my last one was a Toshiba Portege that I was very pleased with, however the power supply died after three years so based on previous ownership of a Toshiba product and wanting a new computer that would last me a few more years I chose the kirabook. I saw it on Toshibas web site but I just could not get over the price, so I waited trying to find a computer that would take my attention away from wanting this ultra-book, luckily I was searching on Amazon and found the kira from a respectable seller using Amazon prime and at a really great price.I got it and I love it. Small and light notebook with good power and great sound and very quick boot ups. Even the power brick is small, not like the huge ones I am use to. I have charged it a couple of times now and the battery seems to last longer than six hours. The Kira looks stylish and the details such as backlit keyboard really make a difference, the biggest plus was the tech support that comes with it,To start I had never used windows 8, our work computers are older models of windows and I really had not put a lot of thought into it. I did watch a few of videos about getting started with windows 8.1 before it arrived and that got me familiar enough to not feel lost when I turned it on. I quickly started getting use to my new OS, I did get stuck here and there but I was able to figure it out and of course I am still a novice with it. I was installing a program off the web and I screwed up, I managed to down load some adware and malicious junk. I fell for every trick the writer had to offer, I turned things off thinking they were legit messages. First day with a new toy and I and I broke my browser. I know better than that so I just felt stupid about it. Well I managed to clear out some of it myself but I couldn’t get the nasty ones off. So my Kira comes with a 2 year tech support, I did not expect their assistance in this matter but I was looking for their advice. To my surprise they helped me clear it off, in fact since they did everything on remote, they fixed it, I really did not have to do anything. The rep was wonderful, he let me speak, explain the problems and patiently heard me out. Then without being rude or condescending took care of the problem explaining everything to me on the way. He was top notch, he made a nervous experience into a comfortable situation.I am very glad I bought this impressive machine and Toshiba has once again earned my business.

Amazing Machine!
This new KIRAbook with the new 4th gen processor is amazing! Screen resolution is awesome and the overall feel of the ultrabook is solid and very well built. Super fast bootup time (About 10-15 seconds!!) thanks to the solid state drive. Extremely thin and light, very sexy machine! Touchscreen is very responsive and I love that it is multitouch so you can do things a tablet can such as pinch zoom in/out and scrolling up/down and side to side. Obviously fingerprints will be left on ANY machine regardless of "anti-fingerprint coating" but honestly it does not interfere with what you are trying to do on-screen. Track pad is nice and large. The only thing that is the biggest complaint for me is that the trackpad feels a bit jumpy; meaning it's very sensitive and will take some time getting used to but that is just a minor quibble. This ultrabook is feature packed and now that it has the 4th gen processor I would say pick this up if you are looking for a new laptop. I've been looking for months and found this one to be the best value for what it offers (And what it offers is up there with the best of the best ultrabooks, at a ridiculous steal of a price here on amazon). I owned a Toshiba Satellite before this and it lasted me over 5 years so I was extremely comfortable purchasing another Toshiba. Plus, INCLUDED 2 year technical service and support! I called once because my trackpad wasn't working properly (apparently I just needed to press F5 to allow tracking) but I got through to a rep within 1 minute; none of that automated machine stuff putting you on hold for long asking you a million questions! I reserved a Microsoft Surface PRO 3 before deciding on this which had the EXACT same specs as this Toshiba (Ok fine the Surface had a 4300U processor not a 4200U....whoop dee doo) So happy I went with this one. Not only am I saving $300+ I also get a solid keyboard with "lapability" which is the only thing that really kept me from that Surface pro 3. Right now this is the best ultrabook you can get for the price and value, without question.
