Doesn't natively support a display connected via mini display port, But if you run it through a thunderbolt dock it works fine. It could be something to do with the thunderbolt drivers on my machine though. Works a charm with my set up - MSI Laptop -TB3-TB2-Black magic mini monitor - SDI - Broadcast display

Fail.
Tested with a new Sager Laptop that has a TB3/USB-C port running Windows 7.1 and I was trying to get a Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini Recorder to work via this device, total fail. Regardless if the Blackmagic was connected or not, all I saw was a cryptic-named device in my device manager with an exclamation point indicating it needed a driver and had none. Nothing anywhere mentions a driver, couldn't find one on the site. Returning it. Maybe the Startech one is better but they look almost to be the same thing. Why do consumers have to pay $99 for a converter just to use a older Thunderbolt device on a newer Thunderbolt port? Sure the physical port changed, but are the protocols over said wire so different? And we thought BetaMax vs VHS was annoying.

Works perfectly in Windows 10 with the Apple Thunderbolt Display
Ignore the previous review from me - the manual in the box of this cable claims it won't work with the Apple Thunderbolt Display, but in my tests (per the response from Kanex), it works perfectly.Display quality is as perfect as it gets, the adapter connects to the display in a matter of seconds, with no lag. This was tested on the Razer Blade Stealth.

Able to work with AkiTio Thunder 2 and eGPU. Working with an external monitor. Optimus not working, but that's probably fault with NVIDIA.

Does not work for connecting an Intel NUC to an Elgato dock
While most product reviews are somewhere between 1 and 5 stars, I see that for this particular device that the reviews are either 1 or 5 stars -- based on whether or not the adapter worked in the customer's environment. For me this adapter did not work. I have an Intel NUC "Skull Canyon" host (running Linux Ubuntu 16.04) that I was hoping to connect to my existing Elgato Thunderbolt 2 dock. No joy there, hence the one star rating. The NUC does however work well with another Thunderbolt 3 device: the "UNITEK Aluminum USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type C" even with all three USB ports loaded with three "Seagate Backup Plus 4TB Portable External Hard Drives" and no additional power source. Nice!

Terrible Support
So far, I've gotten the Kanex TB3 adapter to work for about 30 seconds on a Gigabyte Designare board. Other than that, I get the "USB Not Recognized" error. I've been trying to troubleshoot it ever since. Gigabyte is at a loss and wonders what Kanex has to say, but I tried emailing their support email (as Kanex has been keen to point out on other Amazon reviews), and never heard back. So, now I'm stuck with a $100 brick because support refuses to assist. I'm hoping a one star review will make them actually respond.
