This is the outstanding book on Soap Box Derby racing! Everyone who is interested in the Derby should read this, and it would greatly help you enjoy this exciting event. This book is really good, proven successful on the track. It's thorough and complete. If I could rate it with more than five stars, I'd do it!The idea of this book is explained by the author in his introduction. He says, "I want to give new Derby people a reference book to help them build a competitive car." The author also hopes the book will help experienced Derby people "turn their level of competition up a notch."He succeeds completely. Wonder what makes a car run fast? This book answers all of the key questions of gravity racing, like aerodynamics, construction, energy and weight management, driving skill and many other topics in more than 230 pages. His explanations are illustrated with more than 100 detailed drawings and explained in clear non-technical words. The author, David Fulton, is well-known in Derby circles as a formidable competitor. His sons have all been local champions and have raced in the national event at Akron, Ohio. One of his sons won it all, taking the national championship trophy at Akron in 1980.This book was previously available on a limited scale, mainly by direct contact with the author or through his website, winningingredients.com. Now it's available on a national scale through Amazon.com to everyone interested in the Soap Box Derby--or other forms of gravity racing such as the Scout Pinewood Derby. It's fascinating to read!
