Question 1

Does this lighten dark hair?  One review mentions this, but lime juice was added, is that part of the instructions?  Thanks.

Henna will not lighten you hair at all. The color thou get will depend on the base color of your hair.  If it's light, then you will get a nice bright auburn. If it's brown, a darker auburn. If it's very dark brown then you'll get a very dark auburn brown. If it's black, you may have some auburn highlights if some of your hair is light, for example, if you have a few silver hairs interspersed, those will show up as red highlights.

My hair is naturally a medium auburn just about the exact color I get from the henna treatment.  But I have a fair amount of silver now, which is slightly lighter and brighter than the rest after treatment. So it gives my hair a really nice natural look that is close to my natural color than I have ever gotten with commercial chemical dyes.

This is also the best Henna I have ever used and I've been using it for close to 5 years now.

Does this hair dye contain any chemicals? I cant seem to see if it does on the photo of the box? Thank you :)

Henna is natural and doesn't have hair dye like the normal hair coloring boxes you get at CVS or Target etc. this doesn't call that you add any chemicals either so don't do it. Add deep conditioners, honey, powder clay if you want to add some love with the color that you will naturally get from henna.

Is this pure henna, or does it have other natural herbs, plants or other substances in it such as indigo?

Reshma Beauty "Dark Chocolate" Classic Henna does have other plant substances, including Indigo, which gives it the darker brown tone.
