If I apply this to shoes, can I still wash them in the washing machine? Or will that cause some reaction or discoloring?

Machine wash will be quite abrasive so it would be recommended to reapply to realise full benefits of this product

How much product would I need for 2 sofas, each 87” long?

It depends on how much of the sofa you are going to cover.  Effectively there are five parts to a sofa.
A. Seat Top
B. Seat Back
C. Seat Front (kick panel)
C. Seat Arm Rest
D. Arm Rest Inner
E. Arm Rest Outside and Rear
To Coat a three seater sofa for Parts A through E you will require 2.5 Litres -  0.6 gallons
For Parts A to D 1.5 Litres - 0.35 gallons
For Parts A to C 1.0 Litres - 0.25 gallons
For Parts A to B 0.75 Litres - 0.18 gallons

Instructions:
STEP 1	Ensure the surface is clean and free from dust and dirt.  Older furniture and those in dusty environments will need thorough cleaning and vacuuming prior to coating
STEP 2	Spray evenly over the entire surface from a distance of approximately 10-15 cm until surface is damp.
STEP 3	The spray coating can be gently rubbed into the fibres to ensure it bonds deep into the fabric. We recommend using a soft brush. Allow a maximum of 10 minutes before repeat coating
STEP 4	Leave to air dry for at least 24 hours – once dry surfaces will exhibit water repellent qualities with full protection requiring 24 hours curing time qualities but full protection requires settling time.
