Neat Solution To A Problem I Didn't Know I Had!
My apartment's electrical service runs "hot" - voltage runs between 122-124 at any given time. I discovered this some years ago when I put a voltage meter/protection strip into my DJ audio rack; one volt higher and its automatic shut-down would've been triggered! Yet because it is just below the threshhold of what is considered abnormal, no one has ever tried to fix it. Yet, for this reason, UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) units fail much faster than in most homes. At one time I had four of them; one for both of my main computers and their peripherals, one for my video rack and another for my wife's Mac studio. Yet within a couple of years, all of them failed except for that last one (now showing incoming voltage at 122). So replacing their batteries or entire units haven't been a priority. On the rare occasion that our power has gone out, the main computers don't seem to have too much trouble. But this last time, it was Alexa, my Echo Dot that had the trouble.Suffice it to say that it's been a while since I set up my Echo Dot and had to hit the web. Resetting was a PAIN! It took way more out of my day than I'd have liked...probably more than when I originally set it up! In any case, I decided that I didn't want to live THAT adventure over again, so when I saw this battery base, I decided to give it a try. First off, it's a neat lookin' thing! While my Dot is blue, the black base makes it POP! There are openings at the bottom of the cup that holds the speaker so you can still see the status ring, and the Dot itself is secured by a hard U-shaped power coupler that connects the battery to the Echo Dot. You then just use the power cord that came with the Dot to power the battery pack. While it alleges a 4-5 hour run time without being plugged-in, my use will basically be that of a UPS; emergency back-up power. Although, I must say that it's nice to be able to unplug the whole thing and carry it from room to room.Since I just installed it days ago, I cannot comment on "battery life" or anything else usually asked. All I know is that it fits perfectly and works perfectly outta the box and I'm very happy with the looks, price and ease of use. It nicely fits both my desk and my budget!

Works good for what it is, but it doesn't fit the newest ball shaped dot very well.
I wasn't sure when I bought this if it would fit the version 5 of the ball shaped dot and it only kind of does. The base needs a little modification to hold the 5 correctly and stay plugged in.While it's a bummer, it's not a problem with the device as it didnt say it worked with the 5 specifically, so I am still giving this a 5 star review as it works as it is intended to work, just not how I was hoping it would also work.

Finally free - of my power cord that is!
I have been waiting for this to come out since Mission released the base for the new dot came out. As soon as I saw it was available I ordered it immediately and have not been disappointed! I love that it has a secure snap in design and the extra security from the power cable on the back to make sure it isn't going anywhere. It does not block the sound or interfere with auto-dimming feature for the clock. Now that I'm working from home (it's actually been about 1 year now due to covid) I've been using alexa to timers for my breaks and lunches. Now I can bring my alexa with me to my desk and it doesn't have to stay on my nightstand. I love that the battery lasts a long time while listening to music or podcasts while I'm going about my cleaning and what not. It was super easy to setup right out of the box. If I was forced to give a con on this portable battery, the only thing I could really say is that they don't have the matching twilight blue option available. Which to me is not a big deal as you could use the Black or white with it and it would be just fine.

Great for portability of the 4th gen echo dot
This battery base does what it says. I get several hours of music at high volume per charge. One thing that I wish were better is that the echo dot is not firmly attached to the battery base. Others I've seen in the past had "fingers" that would securely wrap around the round echo. I had one like this and unfortunately dropped it... Still, this is good value. Note - the echo will draw the battery down even when it's not playing music, so I disconnect the small battery coupler when not using it, and when it's not charging.

Long battery life
Sound is really good from the Dot 4 (90% as good as the Echo 4 and a lot cheaper) and this battery lasts longer than I thought it would. Happy.

This is really a cool addition to your Dot
So if you've got a strong WiFi connection, you can either take a really really long extension cord into your back yard, or nestle your Echo Dot into this form-fitting battery base. As you'd expect, the two fit together like they were, ahem, made for each other. A rigid "U" shaped connector plugs the battery into the dot, and your Alexa power supply plugs into the battery. A cutout ensures that you'll still have full access to the aux speaker jack (which we do use with an external speaker). A blue LED indicates that the battery is charging, and you can still see the ring indicator lights in the Dot's base.So skip the extension cord. This makes a Dot as portable as it always should have been.

Easy and useful
Installing this battery base couldn't be easier, just drop the 4th Gen Echo Dot into the base, connect the base to the dot (super easy) and you're ready to go!Battery life is great and having a portable dot that I can take out on the deck when grilling, lounging, etc. is great.Only real down-side is that (depending on the angle) it can be difficult to see the dot's status light can be hard to see, so when you say, "Alexa" you can't tell if it's ready to take your command or not.

Works for Echo Dot and Echo Pop
I originally bought this for my Echo Dot, but ended up using it for my Pop instead.
