My go to for beard dye..
How to Dye Your Beard with Henna: A Practical Guide Dyeing your beard can be a tough decision because many products end up looking fake. However, the henna I use gives my beard a natural dark brown shade that makes me look about 10 years younger. The key here is that the henna creates a more natural look compared to other dyes like "Just For Men," which are often more noticeable. That being said, there are a few challenges that come with dyeing your beard, but they are manageable with the right approach. Challenges with Dyeing Your Beard Root Growth: After about five days, new hair grows in and pushes the dyed hair up, revealing the white or gray roots. This happens to everyone, no matter what product they use. Unfortunately, thereโs no easy way to just touch up the roots, so when this happens, I have to re-dye the entire beard. This can be a bit tedious, but with a positive mindset, itโs worth the effort because of the youthful look it gives. Hair Dryness: Frequent dyeing can dry out my beard, even though henna is all-natural. After dyeing the same hairs multiple times, they can start to look frizzy or "fragile," as if theyโre sticking out in all directions. To address this, Iโve experimented with different conditioning methods, including honey treatments and beard conditioners. Honey, when left in overnight, has worked wonders for some people, though I havenโt tried it yet myself. Color Intensity: One issue Iโve encountered is that if I let the henna paste dry completely, the coverage becomes too dark, almost bordering on black. While I have a shaved head and donโt need to match my hair color, the dark brown beard can sometimes look fake. Unfortunately, I havenโt been able to find a lighter henna color that works well for my beard, and other brands Iโve tried don't provide enough color for my white hairs. Working Around the Dark Color Issue To get a more natural variation in brown tones, I started using a bleach kit to apply highlights to my beard. After leaving the bleach on for about 15-20 minutes, the result is subtle highlights that lighten the beard, giving it a more natural appearance. This works well to break up the overly dark areas and create dimension in the beard. However, be cautious when using bleach. It can irritate your skin or cause a rash if mishandled, so do a patch test first. Also, bleach fumes can be strong, so use it in a well-ventilated area. I recommend starting with a small section of your beard to ensure you donโt have an adverse reaction. Choosing the Right Bleach Kit Look for a bleach kit thatโs reusable, as this can save you money in the long run. Many kits are designed for single-use, but youโll want one that allows you to mix and store the product for multiple applications. I found a reusable kit with a cream developer and lightener, which Iโve used for over four months. You can also opt for professional bulk toners and lighteners, but this requires a larger upfront investment. The key is to have the right kit that you can use multiple times without wasting product. Conditioning Your Beard After dyeing and bleaching, conditioning your beard is essential. Some methods to try include: Tea or Coffee: Use it when mixing your henna for a deeper color and added conditioning. Egg: Mix egg into the henna for added protein that can help condition the hair. Beard Conditioner: Use a beard conditioner in the shower or a leave-in product to keep your beard soft. Honey Treatment: As mentioned, honey can be an effective overnight treatment for softening the beard. Iโve heard that womenโs deep-conditioning treatments can work well too, though they are a bit expensive. If your beard is suffering from dryness due to frequent henna applications, a consistent conditioning routine is crucial for restoring its softness and manageability. Maintenance and Time Commitment Iโve found that maintaining a dyed beard requires ongoing care. After re-dyeing every five days, youโll need to dedicate some time to touch-ups and conditioning. The highlights also need to be reapplied regularly because the henna will color all of your hair, including the highlights. On average, I spend about 3 hours every 5 days to keep everything looking fresh. Final Thoughts While dyeing your beard with henna and highlighting with bleach may seem like a lot of work, the results are worth it. With the right tools and techniques, you can achieve a youthful, natural look. If you're willing to put in the time and effort, this is an affordable option to maintain a great appearance. Just be prepared to care for your beard with conditioning treatments to keep it soft and healthy!

I use henna to color my hair because I have used regular dye and damaged my hair. I wanted something to cover the dye part while I grow it out and eventually cut out the dyed ends. The henna colors your hair but washes out gradually. I haven't seen any damaged cause by the henna. I am going to continue using it because for my hair it is the best choice. Edit-- The smell is something different. It did not smell good or bad. Just a different kind of smell that I am not used too. It is like when you smell food from a different culture, and you don't know if it is good or bad. The application was hard. It comes with a small brush that is useless when applying the product. i ended up just using my hands. But I did like the results. Edit: I talk to the lady that cut my hair. We discussed using henna. She stated that a lady that was going to blond to red had some funky results. I was already dark brown with later ends due to box dyeing. She said if I could good results using henna is the best option for coloring your hair since it is all natural.

Great coverage!
I was doubtful this would cover my white root areas. I typically use a box brand like clairol and it barely covers it and lasts 2-3 weeks. I only do the areas by my temples and widows peak area and those ones at the top in part that start popping up. It was strange texture...like I was putting mud on my hair. It snelled earthy...which was much better than the chemical smell. I left it on possibly 40 minutes. 10 minutes longer than suggested. I was surprised how well it colored everything. I'm not sure how long it will last. But the package has more packets in it for later for the same price as one box on Hair dye. I'm typically a low toxic natural person and hair color is my one exception because I'm not ready to give into white hair at 40๐คช Using this makes me feel confident I can continue to do it without the toxins of hair dye.

Surprisingly nice, long lasting color
1. This is messy. Itโs not easy to use. Particularly if you are used to typical hair dyes. 2. It is all natural and not damaging to hair. (The reason Iโm willing to put up with the mess) 3. The more you do it the easier it gets. 4. This particular color is way darker than I was going for, it was only a few shades away from black. It lightened after a few weeks, but still, I wouldnโt have called it โdark brownโ. 5. Iโm impressed with how well it stays in. I would say less fading than most other regular dyes Iโve tried. 6. Overall. I like that you can mix colors to get the dye you want, I like that itโs natural/not damaging to hair, and I like that it lasts really well. But it is definitely a mess to put on.

Serves it's purpose... mostly.
This is the only color I use on my hair- but mostly because it's cheap and I'm scared to try anything else. I'm a creature of habit. I've been using it for over a year. If we're being honest, this is absolutely NOT dark brown. It's black. And I don't always get total grey coverage. It is really hit or miss, it seems. But overall, it colors my hair and looks great, as long as someone isn't closely inspecting my roots for Grey's. You have to be really close to notice that it isn't fully covered. So do with that what you will!

Not dark brown!!!
The product itself is fine , i have long hair so i used 3 packets. I did not have much fallout compared to traditional hair dye. The ends or my hair have been color treated before so i wanted a neutral dark brown to blend my hair together after my roots have grown out. Came out much darker than i wanted and is basically BLACK. Does not look like the colour on the package. Hope this fades quickly:(
